What do I use a Data Call for???

5 replies · 3,588 views · Started 10 February 2003

So I signed up for tmobiles fax and dat line services. This way people can fax straight to my phone. Also included with the package is a direct data line to my phone.

when i call that number, i see "data call" on the front display with the phone number of the incoming call. the number I dial from gets no audible tones just silence when you dial the data number...

any ideas of what i could use it for? anyone else have this "feature"?

i had the same feature with my 9000il and so did my friends. we could dial in to each others phone and get a "shell" prompt. we ended up just leaving funny messages to each other.... 😊

thanks,

hall

data calls are used to connect to the internet ... in my case I signed up at a local isp for a dial in internet account (which was free) and I now dial using my 9210 to that isp to gain internet acces. Thus making a Data Call.

i had that same feature and used it without a "data line" . i could dial a isp without the "data line". now i have 3 phone lines to one phone. voice, fax and data. I'm wodering what the data line can be used for when you "dial in" that number.

data line is for you to be able to be connected to internet and do data transactions, like recieving of emails and the like. 8)

I've been using a 9290 without a data line to access email and internet. if you dial your isp or wap access, you'll notice that your phone rolls to your voice number not your data number. the data number allows incoming phone calls...

i understand what a data call is

thanks!

hope this makes sense
