Problem with O2 data

Hi there, I have recently moved to the UK from Spain where I have been using Route66 and had the data connection active for TMC update which worked great, when I moved to the UK I got a prepay O2 SIM and tried to get it working but it would make Route 66 crash everytime is was asked to update via TMC. I was wondering if anyone knew what the reason might be? I have checked in the settings to make sure it points to O2 instead of the previous network operator.

I have just read around the forum and noticed that it may be O2 blocking anything other than web surfing which I can confirm I can do, I have also noticed that Fring has stopped working, so I guess this may well be the case.

I have also just changed from Pay as you Go to Contract and this is still happening.

Does anyone else have similar problems and has anyone tried to address it with O2 and what was the outcome, or what else could I try?

Thanks in advance.

The settings for mobile web an contract are different you need to get the 02 mobile web settings.

In Route66 settings there should be an option to choose an access point, make sure this is set to o2 Mobile Web and you should have any problems, the wap one is just for browsing the internet.

that may be the problem, i dont have a mobile web option in the access point list... should i call O2 and get them to send me another configuration message?

thanks

Yeah try giving them a call, I think a few others have had this problem, I think they do just resend the config message.

hi, for future information, i contacted O2 and insisted (took a while!) that they send me a new configuration message that had the 'O2 Mobile Web' setting in it (access point) and this owrked OK, thanks for your help.
