N-Gage Sales Chart for 18th to 24th of August 2008

There's one new entry on this week's chart, but still no sign of Reset Generation. Is everyone playing the free PC version?

Read on in the full article.

Dogz was released too late to make it into this week's chart, it may be in next week's (though I sincerely hope it isn't!).

1. Dirk Dagger and Bounce really deserve their position! I wonder when will Asphalt and brothers an arms get out of the chart! I think people are buying them only because of the names.
2. Nokia did something really good with Reset generation! It's now really popular and a lot of people are playing it. It's a really good promotion for n-gage. when people get familiar with the platform and become interestie in it, they don't buy this game cause they can play it on pc. Instead, they buy other n-gage games.

Well, that's the curse of all gaming systems really. Familiar brands sell games, possibly because most gamers never bother reading any gaming sites or magazines so they don't know how bad big name games can be.

You're absolutely right, I totally agree, sorry if my comment in the news item seemed to suggest otherwise.

It's just a shame that more people aren't buying it on N-Gage as well, because it really deserves to be at the top spot. It's probably the best game on the platform right now.

Too many monster trainers and plumbers in RG at the moment! I usually play random, but it puts me at a big disadvantage against these 2 overpowered hero types. As they're releasing an updated Space Impact, I hope that they will also release an updated RG with a few balance tweaks, although with the apparent lack of sales, maybe not 😞

I enjoy it, but so much comes down to random luck with the items (yeah, I know, I'm just rubbish at it and bitter!)

Has anyone documented how many movement points you get (with and without booster blocks) and the expense of walking on each type of tile?

And is there any way to reduce the sound lag? Is it due to installing it on external storage? I don't have enough space on internal storage on my N95-1 to test with at the moment.

After reading d review altleast iI would not want 2 eve try d demo of Dogz.
You r right about 'Asphalt 3' !!!!!.
Even I liked Dirk Dagger, I liked it d best of all d games I tried out from Ngage. I truley got into d atmosphere of the game while playing it, 4 some time I felt I was Dirk. eerrrrr!!!! just joking buddy !!!!
Hey Tzer2! one more thing, please don't forget 2 find out whether d N79 & N85 have a 3D chip for acceleration, which we are all anxious 2 know !!!
just a request !!!!

ashwyn7, I've answered your questions in the other thread where you posted them.

argh, I think they deliberately kept a large element of luck in the game so that even beginners had some chance of winning. If you make an online game entirely down to skill, it can get a bit harsh for people who only play it occasionally (though of course ranked games are another way of solving that problem).

I hope that they will also release an updated RG with a few balance tweaks, although with the apparent lack of sales, maybe not 😞

I don't think Nokia was aiming for sales with Reset Gen, otherwise they wouldn't have given the game away to anyone with a browser.

The idea of RG is probably to give the N-Gage brand some credibility by showing people just how good its exclusive games can be, and make it ultra-easy to try an N-Gage game (you don't even need a phone!).

On balance issues, it's very difficult to get a balance that keeps everyone happy, as some people play one way while others play another. From what I understand they spent 2 or 3 years working on RG, mostly on the gameplay balance. If there are possible improvements though, it should be fairly easy to implement them as the actual game engine and graphics wouldn't have to change at all.

Regarding the sound lag, your best bet is to ask on the official RG forum, it's read by the developers so they will know they have to fix it:
