Mute on Nokia Maps 2?

I installed Nokia Maps 2 to (re)try this application. Last year version 1 was still very poor but Maps 2 really impresses me. You have to get used to the menu structure, but then it works fine.

Then, I noticed that Nokia overlooked one key aspect which makes the whole application nearly useless to me. Perhaps I missed something, but you cannot mute the spoken voice instructions. Sure, it is possible to turn the volume down to zero. You will not hear the instructions, but it still interrupts my radio since I have my N82 connected to my bluetooth CK-7W carkit. This effectively means that on long journeys you continuously have to listen to the spoken instructions. Very annoying.

Nokia, can you please include this function in your next version of Nokia Maps. You 're very close to beating TomTom.

I haven't check this, but I seem to recall setting the volume on Nokia maps (while navigation) via the options screen is separate to the incoming voice / keypad tones etc.

That's correct which is in fact another flaw. Indeed, if you want to change the volume of the spoken instructions, you need to change the volume of the carkit. This is obviously what you don't want, because for phonecalls I always want maximum volume. For navigation instruction I don't. This same problem occurs with Route66. (Nokia Maps is clearly derived from Route66).

However, although it is not possible to change the volume within the Maps application, changing the volume to ZERO does silence the voice instructions. Unfortunately, Nokia overlooked the fact that the instruction cannot be heard anymore, it still does send an interupt to the radio (through Nokia's own carkit) for the duration of the voice instruction.

What Nokia urgently needs to do is provide a MUTE key behind the OPTIONS window while navigating.

I really hate this feature and hope, that Nokia will implement an Option to turn voice guidance completely off. This is annoying.
