I am converting from a Palm V to a 9210 and have not found a "find" command. I would even settle for a grep that could wander thru memory and card looking for a string. Anyone seen such a beast?
Find on the 9210
Hi here DanB and welcome to Symbian ![]()
It's good to see you didn't cross over to the Dark Side of Micro$oft's evil empire ![]()
If you load the File Manager, you can press <B>CTRL + F</b> (or press <B>Menu</b>, select <B>Tools</b> and <B>Find</b>😉. From here, you can enter a value and that value will be sought after in filenames.
For example, on my system, if I do a search for '<B>act</B>', I'm returned <B>Cont<U>act</u>s</b>, <B><U>Act</u>iveDesk</b>, <B>Trans<U>act</u>ions </b> and so on. So there's no need to enter wildcards (eg, no need for *act* )
I don't know if this is what you're wanting to know. In case you want to be able to search the contents of files for a string, I'm afraid I don't know of a tool that will do that ![]()

The find I used so often in the Palm did check thru the text and is "standard tool" to me now. I did use Win CE 1.0 before going to the Palm OS. I reset my palm each time I changed the OS and once after dumping beer into it ( and drying it out on the radiator). Don't ask how often I reset win CE.
Anyway will keep searching for a Grep like tool for the 9210.
