For those who are having Blue Tooth trouble.

2- To connect to ur P800 via USB do the following :
i- Set BT to ON in ur P800
ii- Pair with ur desktop/laptop
iii- in the laptop/desktop thing u paired, and click " allowed to conect with out confirmation "
iv- on ur desktop, make sure the Mroute sees ur connection.. u should also see a little p800 icon on ur task bar ( not desktop)..the same as u see when ur connectee via the cable. v-click on BlueTooth Serial Port, ur gonna get the error u got and also the one i got. Thanks it really work, now I can synchronize using bluetooth. Although there is an error message, it still connects. Very confusing at first, but works! 😃
I have another question. Since the PC does not recognize the connection, what is the best way to disconnenc? I tried to connect via serial again, and it disconnect the previous connection, however, is there any other better way?
What bluetooth hardware do u guys used ?
Hi there,
I paired the P800 with my acer USB-Bluetooth-Dongle. But when I try to connect the serial Port the software says that "the serial connection to the device (null) is done over the Bluetooth-Connection COM3789624" and it uses "COM0" and that the remote Device has closed the connection 😞.
Any Advice?
Thanks
Michael
PS: Yes, i checked the "device can acces without notification" on the phone...
Using the MSI Bluetooth Dongle (Key), I get a similar error to michis0806, though if I keep clicking on 'Connect to Bluetooth Serial Port' and dismissing the errors, I eventually end up connected.
Any ideas why this is so poor?

It's supoosed to do that. Check the link connection status in your task bar. It's connected.

You have to connect it to the USB cradle at least once. The computer doesnt recognize the P800 yet.

Im using the Billionton Bluetooth Dongle
Thanks for the info but I'm getting a really wierd error which I haven't heard about before...
Having got a serial port connection, I'm finding that when i transfer a file ( say an MP3 ) to the P800, an error comes up saying the file could not be transfered after about 1 minute. Then the little icon disappears i.e there is no conncetion. The really strange thing is that the serial connection is still there, i.e the dongle is still red ( meaning a connection ) and the P800 still shows the connection icon...
Try and solve that one!
I have all the latest drivers for all the software and i'm running XP Pro..
easy, it's the same as me.
The p800 is still connected (and hopefully paired as it is on mine) but it has dropped the serial port, hence why your mp3 stopped transferring.
I get this quite a lot after a random amount of time, depending on what im doing with the phone. This is where the software is at fault - I can cope happily with it giving me an error as long as it always picks up the connection ok afterwards...
Oh right... but with mine, as far as i know, it doesn't pick up the connection afterwards! They just remain connected and not transfering anything.
When yours looses the connection, do you get the error about being unable to copy whatever, and it give you the options to try agian or cancel all?
If so, what do you do!
Cheers!
for things like vnc, telnet, proxy server etc. it would be good to have a tcp/ip stack on the p800. is there one available, or can you set the ip address to allow you to connect to the Wireless Networking portion of the MSI bluetooth dongle?
I had similar problems with my MSI Bluetooth Dongle and P800. I would experience the same error message when trying to connect the Serial Port... it would first tell me that it would assign it to COM0, and then fail.
I'm on Win XP Pro here.
Basically - I uninstalled the P800 Suite, uninstalled the MSI shipped drivers. Rebooted.
Then I followed: http://esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=18817&forum=18
...in order to install the latest Widcomm Bluetooth Drivers that I could find. Then I rebooted (watch out for the dodgy installer dialog window that seemed to disappear on my machine... I just had to focus the app and hit return - it then rebooted the machine - but I think it does something when you do that).
After reboot, I installed the latest P800 Suite 1.1.1 from the SE website.
Reboot.
...and rebooted just for fun.
Then I made sure my MSI dongle is in a USB 1 port, as it was in the USB 2 port when I had the COM Port dropping errors.
I turn on Bluetooth on the phone, et voila. It works. Now it says connected on COM3 (rather than COM0) and I don't get an error. The MROUTER software kicks in and the phone becomes available.
I have my network LAN connection shared, I open Opera on the P800 and I browse to my hearts content.
Oh, poo...
Today (after the machine has been rebooted)... I can't connect and get the same dropping of the COM Port. Why is this so flakey. Should I just go buy a different Manufacturer's Bluetooth Dongle (I have tried two MSI dongles)?
Alan
I think you're having a different error to what i mentioned above, because I don't have the problem of dropped serial port connection, that stays on fine. It's the actual transfering of files connection that is dropped, it the error states that the file could not be transfered because the phone is not connected, but it is connected because the dongle flashes and the icon is still on the phone!
With your problem, I'm not sure if you've read it already but the error message is void because if you just leave the error for a couple of secs then watch your phone, the connection symbol should appear...
