Even if opera wont be usable on 7650, there will be a significant number of 3650s (and perhaps other series 60 phones coming from siemens and other vendors) Therefore opera for series 60 will be a real mass market!

Yes, we've done the math. Personally I also have quite high hopes for the P800. It's a great device out of the box, and a real killer with Opera on it 😉

But up to now it seems to be your policy to give it away for free. That is even better for the user!

We are not giving it away for free. Far from it. You can get it for free, but that is by courtesy of Sony Ericsson.

Hi Dag,

Sorry for asking here - How can I get your email? I'd like to contact You with couple of questions.

Best Regards!
Peter

Ps. Mail me to [email protected] (email adress just for contact - I'll response from a different adress)

Sorry, perhaps I misunderstood something. I got the impression that opera for p800 will be downloadable without cost. Sure this does not mean to give it away for free. Sony Ericsson will have paid for it. ??

And what about series 60? Of cause I am convinced that this software could easily be sold for some money. Not my job to talk about prices....

That's correct.

Sorry, that is what I meant. You should thank Sony Ericsson for the fact that the browser is free, not us 😉.

Opera is a commercial company that needs to make money and pay salaries. Several different business models are possible, such as selling to handset manufacturers, operators or directly to end-users. It is likely that all these business models will be used at some point.

Well, major kudos to Sony Ericsson then! In these Symbian forums, we sometimes moan about missing this, or incomplete that, or "beta feel' about another thing (I know I've ranted somewhat about SE's synching suite software and issues galore with Outlook), but we sometimes lose sight of the fact that SE has made this absolutely amazing, breakthrough product that, for a "first try" sorts, has really raised the bar for every other techonology company on the planet.

And now they're going and paying Opera for what looks like some seriously cool (killer app potential) software.

I've been using 'small screen rendering' in Opera 7.01 for a few days now, and I'm just blown away by the technology. Some sites fail in it (for instance, www.cendirect.com, a site that uses javascript redirects, but also a Cdn site I buy most computer hardware from and would like mobile access to), but most websites work fine it it, even DHTML heavy sites!
