Sync with a Macintosh

10 replies · 2,909 views · Started 11 February 2003

Hello,
I can't sync my P800 with my Mac...i'm using iSync but it doesn't work...please help me ... :-?

iSync doesn't supprt the P800. I don't know of any other working sync softweare for the Mac either.

There are limited Sync capabilities with Outlook and address book through blue tooth. There are some postings on this forum onthis regard.

I cannot tell personally how to work it out because although I do have the P800 I'm still waiting for my Mac BT set

OnSync (http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=18093&db=mac) is supposed to do the trick, also for the P800. I don't succeed though. If you do, please tell us here! I have mailed the author and he hasn't replied.

😞 Hi i've tried OnSync but it doesn't work at all ... Thanks anyway for the link, i hope that they release an upgrade soon !

The main problem as it stands now (and according to the Apple support forums) is that iSync does not actively support the SyncML protocol, which happens to be the protocol that the SE P800 uses.

Rumour has it that SyncML was either supposed to be in iSync, or is in iSync but disabled. Another rumour has it that Apple is currently working on the situation, and will eventually issue an update for iSync that does support SyncML and will include active support for the P800 to sync with iCal, Address Book, and Mail.

There is enough of a buzz (and vocal demand) in the forums over at Apple's site for this functionality. Given the relatively cosy relationship between SE and Apple (witness the T68i love in), I would assume these rumours will come true. But we all have to have patience for now.

Hi,
I've got a old Palm V and to sync all the contacts of my palm to my P800, i just use the I.R transmission. It takes 1 minutes and now i've got all my contacts on my phone

What program did u used to send them all in a readable format?

export all your contacts under Palm dt or Addressbook as 1 file, extension: .vcf and download the program below to your 7650-3650 (P800 coming)
Inside the program you can import all the data. The 7650 can not open container vcf or vcal files (failed also on the P800), with this program it can open those container vcf files. Now we all have a mission; we need the same for vcal files so we can export our entire calendar as vcal and import everything on the 7650-3650. PLEASE everybody write a polite email to [email protected] and ask them to add this feature.

If you have BlueTooth you can (at least) transfer a selection of address' to your phone. All you have to do is choose 'Card / Send This Card' and it uploads the whole lot. Also with a file selected you can choose "Services / Send File To Bluetooth Device" (Shift Command S) which is quite handy...

Does anyone know what remote sync is? It'd be SOOO cool to sync with .Mac over GPRS 😊

If you wanna read on how to migrate the Address Book from Palm to Outlook I posted instructions after getting it done yesterday.

Well if you wanna read my horror story of sync attempts with Outlook here's my full post: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12972

I posted full instructions on how I did achieve to migrate my contacts (address book) without using Outlook!
