I have been using WM5 and 6 for the past year or so and have made the switch to symbian just a couple of days ago; I have the nokia E71. I must say I find it quite confusing.
I do need help...how can I make the phone vibrate for text messages? Vibrate but not ring. I tried playing around with the settings, but no luck.
I did a search to see if anyone else posted the same problem, and they solved it but didn't say how.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I just made the same move from WM to an E71 myself.
Go to Settings, General, Personalisation, Tones
Set "Message alert tone" to "Off"
Set "Vibrating alert" to "On"
generally that smart way to do this is use the profiles. so leave the NORMAL profile setup with a loud ringer. and change the SILENT profile to vibrate only on text messages and incoming calls.
and now you can just switch between these 2 profiles by using the shortcut star * key. so if you have a meeting just hold the star * key to go to silent profile which will vibrate only. then use star again to go back to normal profile which will ring.
And if u organize many profiles and wanna switch it fast just press the Power key once and u can see a list of the profiles.
