GPS slow after firmware upgrade 30.0.015

I found that after upgrade of my n95-1 firmware to the 30.0.015 version, the GPS signal is now very very slow to be connected.
I have to wait 30 minutes too!
It's happened also with the GPSd application (the one used to connect the internal GPS with TomTom) and also with the GPS data nokia embedded application.
It's a very nightmare now!
anybody had the same problem?:icon4:

nope mine works ace mate , only thing ive had pobs with was something totally different ie trk and secman install for hacking the phone ,

i still get a lock on in around 20 secs mate , did you back up your settings then restore them after the update this can cause many problems with the software speacially if product codes have been changed in the past

i only back up my contacts then restore them i install everything individually aftet the firmware upgrades

I'd check the assisted GPS server. After one of the firmware updates, I found it had reset to something strange.

The correct assisted gps server is available by searching the forum (sorry, I don't have it on me right now).

Did you by any chance RESTORE a backup after the Firmware upgrade?
(If so, re-apply the new Firmware and do NOT restore from a backup this time).

I had exactly the same problem when i upgraded to v21. GPD was super fast on v13, and died after the upgrade. while everyone else was telling me theres was better. Tried everything and 3 re-installs but no improvement.

Ive now upgraded to v30 and its superfast again. infact its faster. gps lock in 2 seconds!

Its just one of those things that goes wrong. best is to try a few reinstalls. Maybe try a different product code (not that it should make any difference).

And most inportantly do not use the pc suit data backup/restall service. (and do not use the memory card one either).

good luck... or you be waiting till next firmware update maybe!

Hi All

I had the exact same problem as above but I seem to have solved the problem. I couldn't understand why some people are raving about the new update and others are hating it. I thought there must me a conflict with either after market software installs or peoples settings (either on the phone memory on the Micro SD card).

First off I made sure my memory card was backed up then I made a back up of my entire phone contents using NSU on the PC. I then re-installed the 30.0.15 firmware but did NOT re-install anything from my memory card nor from the PC thereafter! I went outside and check my GPS connectivity via MAPS v2.0 and BINGO, got a lock within a few seconds!

Therefor the issue must be the re-installation of a setting from the previous firmware. I know I jumped from version 20 to 30, I skipped version 21 so perhaps that was the issue?

After the re-installation I used NSU on the PC to reinstall my contacts, messages, setting etc and my GPS works fine now where as before I used 'restore from card' under memory card.

Hope this method works for you too, please let me know.

Cheers! 😊
