how do i know when my maps need updating?
This is one of the things I requested in my list of changes to make to Nokia Maps (and maploader).
It detects which version of the maps you have, and automatically prompts for an update when you use maploader.
Of course, they might not listen to me. 🙄
At this current time, you have no way of knowing. Silly really, considering thats one of the main strengths of nokia Maps.

says at bottom of nokia map loader 2.0.2:
current drive: E: at Nokia N95 8GB at (map VERSION 0.0.12h)is that anything to go on?
map version listed but there is nothing to compare it against online..
