Share Online 3.0 *eurgh* and mynokia?!

Hi everyone - a nokia n95 8gb owner here has just flashed to 30.blah blah and has spotted the nasty Share Online now appeared on the standy screen.

What were nokia thinking?!?

It wouldn't be so bad if they had at least made it "look" like the other standby shortcuts... it wouldn't be so bad if they allowed you to uninstall it!

What's more, this whole MyNokia thing that I have agreed to (had no choice) when installing the update... what's that all about?

Is there a way to remove both mynokia and share online 3.0 from this? I am gathering from Internet searches that there is not but there could be a way if I edit some dll file in the phone's OS files? Not that I know how to access them?

Does anyone know of any legitimate, clean way of removing these two apps?

Thanks!

Dan

I love share online, but agree, you should be able to remove it.

The MyNokia is a pain. From memory theres a optout message to send... it escapes me at the moment tho...

you might be able to do it from MyNokia web if youve signed up there.

Agreed. The search icons are a pain. I have a solution for the MyNokia though (and all the other non-deletable rubbish that clutters up your menus 😉

same sentiments here. I just wished I can remove those standby shortcuts like in my E51 wherein I can choos what I want. I will not and ever use those apps included in Share Online. If anyone have figured out how to remove it, please share.

it's the "Search: Internet and my content" that drives me nuts!

everything else fits on 2 line, this wraps to 2 lines and looks like poop...

What's wrong with "Search"?

i love the share online ovi icons on the home screen. but i agree they should have allowed it to be removed. then again, what other active standby functions does nokia allow us to remove? none. search is always stuck there. calendar is always stuck there. to-do notes are stuck there. E series have always been able to turn these on/off individually. but N series has never had this option, and now nokia just added one more to the mix; share online. personally i like it there and like the look of it. hell i add the google search plugin to the homescreen too!

You can remove it, but you have to 'hack' your phone to do so.
You can find out how on my blog, along with a few other 'fixes'.

Yeah I had rompatcher before my latest update and there is a new version which auto disables on reboot. Tried the SoActiveidle.dll but it didn't work and I don't have the mentioned AIplugin .rsc at Z:resource on my N95-1.Could live with rompatcher if it included the so.

can you guys upload photos to flickr on share 3.0 using a vodafone APN? ive had problems previously which is why im still using share 2.0

ok, you can quit the MyNokia thing by going, strangely enough, to the My Nokia application and selecting unsubscribe! Genius! 😉
