Why P800 does not come with Word/Excel edit function? It'll be damn useful if one could amend a note or write an essay wherever he likes. Even the old-timer Nokia 9210 have got the function 😞

Yes yes friend, im' afraid this info is all part of the RTFFORUM...
Never mind, im sure someone will write an editor....

I agree entirely.
I still have my Psion 5MX left and it will edit Word, Excel and other kinds of MS office documents seemlesly.
I'm quite certain Symbian could've easily ported this functionality to UIQ which leads me to think that the reason for not including this is sheer politics. :x

As Symbian already have a good word and spreadsheet package in the 92XX series, I don't see why the dont amend it for UIQ.

OK it would be a big change to allow for a different screen size, use the handwriting recognition and implement the touch screen for control but prehaps they could sell it as an additional package and generate some extra revenue?

Don't give them another reason to delay the release of this phone. This functionality can be added by 3rd party utils, I think it's a bit excessive to expect your phone to edit spreadhseets out-of-the-box!

First off, delay, what do you mean by delay? I've had this phone for a couple of weeks now.

Secondly, Symbian has this Word/Excel software in its repository. They had it in their Psion 5/7 series devices and that was with touchscreen so I'd argue the technology in every respect is there, the reason for not porting this software to the P800 is sheer politics.

tybollt, there are still some countries waiting for the officially release of P800, like UK and Hong Kong. It's been a long long time waiting....

I don't think the Word/Excel rewritability is a main concern for the delay of the launch. 😊

I would write the cheque for P800 if it's goona launch in here Hong Kong without thinking for its sheer functionality and perforance. But if it was merely sheer politics or a marketing scam to keep the Word/Excel rewritability function in house for some future upgrade excuse to squeeze me extra money, I would be angry.

This phone was supposed to release in late summer 2002! MIB II, a little bit passe don't you think...
