I've recently installed the v30 firmware to my N95 8Gb.
Ever since, I've found problems playing back files that are normally no problem at all.
Various MP4 files (Video Podcasts) have trouble playing the video stream (which appears OK if I select 'play preview' whilst downloading the vodcast)
MP4 files encoded with Nokia Movie Maker (or whatever the PC Suit app is called) initially play for 5 seconds, pause for 2-3 seconds, play again - this continues for about two minutes and then playback settles down OK.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced any similar problems? I'll probably do a fresh ROM install over the weekend but never hurts to check these things out.
OK I'm replying to my own thread. Re-installed v30 firmware over the weekend and didn't restore any backup files.
Media playback is marginally better, but some mp4s will play, others just play the audio (weird when m4v files play no problem at all).
I echo what many others have said on the site - v30 seems to make your device twitchy and slow. I don't think there is a single function on my phone that hasn't had an extra 'pause' added to it. Auto screen rotation is not so much auto any more, more 'auto +2 seconds).
Firing up, the Desktop loads, then hangs on the background image only for 5 seconds, returning to the full home screen. Not a hanging offence, but come on - this is a refinement to v20?
On that subject, really, what does v30 add beyond some ancilliary connectivity to Ovi and other Nokia online services? Sure it wrapped up a lot of updates to separate applications in a single convenient package, but most of the apps I had already updated piecemeal - and my phone worked just fine.
Roll on the next update I say, sooner rather than later!
