Nokia E-90 Sucessor
anyone who have e90's photo??
if you have photo,pls transfer to me,tks
The successor must be a new communicator and since there is no new communicator (and there is no rumor about a new one) then am not sure there is a successor.
am not sure about these news.

The things I want to see in, let's say a future E90i, are:- 5MP camera, xenon flash + AF (camera from the N96);
- 3.5mm jack with TV out (as the N96); (I know there is Psiloc WiPresenter but it's not the same)
- internal memory 16gb (like N96) or 32gb;
- better/faster processor and more RAM;
- better battery, they have to double the Mhz at least...;
- a lot more apps as standard or a better Download! Tool;
- 2 SIMcard slots--> I use 2 cellphones, and in the early days of the cells this possibility was more frequent, I know it is still possible (check here http://www.m-99.co.uk/nokia-e90.html and scroll down till the middle of the page) but I don't trust it that much.

If you look at the N97, I think Nokia is well placed to come out with an update that in E-series format would be a worthy successor to E90.
😊 Looks like there is a sucessor : 😊 PomegranatePhone 😊
Got wings but no propellors yet and .... no Qwerty ! But a lot else . Check the Web and YouTube

Today on Tweakers.net I came across a screenshot of the Nokia N900 Maemo 5 . It seems to be originated from a Russian Phone Reviewer . The N900 will be announced on sept 2 on Nokia World .

I have had my E90 for 2 years or so. It's been a great boon to my every day life but these are my biggest gripes:
1. It's slow. Not all the time, just the times when you really need it to be fast! Switching between closed and open, and between programs is just too slow. Sometimes it's so slow you end up doing things twice because you think you didn't press the buttons properly.
2. Fiddly interface. This is sort of compounded by the above. The interface isn't always intuitive, you frequently have to delve into settings to do things.
3. Poor calendar. For a business device the calendar just doesn't cut it.
4. 2.5mm jack with poor sound quality.
The N900 looks really promising. I don't think there's anything wrong with symbian operating system, but S60 is designed for phones with small screens and a numeric keypad. This linux distribution just looks more grown up - multitasking looks slicker, and it just has a more desktop feel.
Maybe they'll bring out an E900, with a few more hard buttons (I could still do with my application shortcut buttons, numeric row and extra keys). But I might just get an N900 anyway!
Duncan.
P.S.
My favourite features of the E90:
1. Active notes
2. Excellent messaging suite
3. Web and connectivity to the internet is more reliable and quicker than I would ever have expected for a phone.
4. Connects with everything, does everything, if you're willing to work out how.
You are asking the wrong question, surely. The E90 is not a Communicator, it is a big smartphone with a querty keyboard pretending to be a Communicator.
The question should be either how do we persuade Nokia to make a real Communicator or which device from another manufacturer comes closest?
I have owned Communicators right through from the 9000i and the E90 is a con.
Any recommendations for Nokia N900 - Linux based Internet Tablet :con? 😉
This one you can get on pre-order . Price = ? Weight only 400 gr . Looks like a Communicator allright :

I suppose it can be ported to Linux .

The E90 is my first Communicator, and I think you're wrong in your assessment.
For one thing, Nokia invented the word "Communicator", so they are entitled to use it in any way they see fit. Secondly, if Nokia had not based the E90 on S60, it simply wouldn't have existed at all, once it was clear that S80 was not going to survive. I for one am glad Nokia made the decision they did.
Maybe the N900 will be Communicator-like in use, but I have my doubts. And uUnless the range of software available for Maemo drastically improves, there'll be even less good stuff than there is for S60, and that's pretty poor compared to ie. the iPhone.

i`ll be more than happy to say later on that E90 was not a comunicator and Nokia did a good decision by droping s60 and putting MAEMO on N900 communicator.
😃
e90 is not a real communicator as no proper fax, calendar, contact manager.
rest my case.
If Nokia didn't used S60 for the E90, a lot less would be sold.
I had the 9500 before and it's was really weird if you were used to S60 but I loved the formfactor of the 9500 so it is really great to bring the best worlds to one device in my situation. When the E90 was with S80, I wouldn't know if I bought one.
But the thing Nokia had to do was to develop a E90 S60 and a E90 S80 edition.
What do you think of the N97 or N900? Will it be a good device to replace the E90?
What disturbs me is the touchscreen and the weird keyboard... I hope they stop again with making touchscreen phones but who am I...
Although I'm not an E90 owner, I am a fan of the phone, from the little I've used it - my flatmate has one, and I think it's a pretty solid device.
I got an N97 when it first came out here in Saudi - a few days before it hit the shops in the UK, and his comments on how the E90 can be improved:
Touchscreen - better for web browsing
3.5 mm jack plug
TV Out
Mass Memory
FM Transmitter
Better camera.
If it had these things, then certainly I'd look at a Communicator rather than a more mainstream product like the N97. One woudl think also, that as technology has moved on, the product could be made much slimmer. Width and length isn't an issue, just the thickness of the phone.
Still very popular here in Saudi , and still available to buy new, unlocked.
I have been reading all the posts since 2008 on the successor to e90 communicator. It is Jan 2010 now and there are still no signs of any successor. Does it mean that the communicator series will be discontinued and e90 is the last communicator?
Nokia is fast losing ground in the smart phone category and if it does not come out with a worthy successor to the e90, it might be completely wiped out from the business smartphones market. E71, 72,75 are just not in the same league!
I have been using an e90 as my main cell phone for the past two years and am early awaiting the new comm to upgrade myself to it. If symbian does not measure up to the requirements of a new comm, perhaps it should be brought out in Linux based maemo o/s.
I have the iphone 3gs, the blackberry bold, the htc hero,a ipaq thus covering most of the mobile operating systems. The e90 , however, still remains my favorite for its sturdy workmanlike business mould.
Does anyone know when the new communicator is being introduced? Or has the communicator series been discontinued for good?

I have had most of Nokia communicator phones, 9210i, 9500,9300,9300i,E90
if Nokia discontinues communicator phones I think i will commit suicide.
these days I look for the next communicator phone on the web, but nothing yet, lets just keep our fingers crossed and hope for a new one!
NOKIA PLEASE DO IT.
I was in Nokia's chicago flagship store about a month ago. ( so sad to hear they are closing). I asked if there is another communicator soon? The clerk looked pretty confident as he shook his head, no.
We discussed the n97, mini and n900. The 97 and mini 97 are still s60 ( I think ver. 5, we are 3) I think these would be the closest to an e90.
You know, I played with them and forgot to look and see if they contained a print manager in their office software.
The big boy on the block NOW, is the n 900. It is an awesome phone. Linux based and very powerful. Fastest processor of any driod I can find. 32 gigs of front end memory. renders open gl, and flash 9.
I think this may be their communicator in effort. I wonder if it will get the recognition it deserves? All the major carriers in the US tend to shy away from nokia's higher end phones and just sell the lower models. T-Mobile is already sporting the new nexis 1https://www.google.com/phone/choose?locale=en_US&s7e=
The e90, 9300, and 9290 are still my faves.
N900 misses the Communicater (9000 , 9210 , 9300 , 9500 , E90 , etc) form- and work factor :
1 handed , 2 handed and table use .
E900 could be a fair repacement . Even with 'Donottouchscreen'.....
BTW the ≠ is a remainder from the 9210 .

Feb. 5th.,, I just removed the line that said the 900 had the fastest processor. It is actually five hundred something megahertz. The nexes 1 is a gig. But the 900 dose have a separate video processor which should free up the main processor and give over all performance a super boost.
I did play around with the internet on the 900. it ran superbly. no lags. just like a home pc. it can handle flash 9 as well.
I have not seen a nexis 1 yet, but i like to try one out.
If there is a new communicator to come, it may be a droid. There seems to be very strong interest shared by all the major manufacturers and also the major carriers.
What ever it may be I hope it will E90 in style and 9300 in functionality
