Not at all Steve, Nokia Maps is still crap in so many ways...uncorrupted map data barely fixes anything (e.g. UI design etc etc).

Steve

I think the suggestion of gdigenis could be the solution. In fact, I did the same thing before the download of the new datamaps and, as I wrote in my previous post, all worked perfectly (both in Croatia and in Italy also some countryroads were mapped).

I wasn't having the above maps problem but for some reason Nokia Maps started crashing everytime it tried to connect to my external GPS module. Bought a new module, reset the phone & installed all applications but it still crashes.

Thanks to the suggestion of MaciekBora above, I ordered Garmin XT. Currently only 36 on Amazon - delivered in 2 days. Installed easily on my E61. Connects properly & initial impressions are that it looks very solid.

I had exactly the same problem in a particular highway in Singapore - AYE. This happens with Nokia Maps 2.0 and it has not been fixed yet after so many revision. It's the map data problem.

Maps 2.0 take me around and around to get from point a to b. Maps 1.0 is better but outdated POI

Steve, my experience was identical to your images and description. Nokia maps 1 was pretty good for voice assisted nav, but maps were hopelessly out of date (years!). Maps 2 was absolutely useless. Took me a full day to revert my n95 to maps1.
