with my N95, my battery would display full for ages, then drop quite quickly.
with the i8510, the battery shows full until about 5 hours standby, then begins to drop. Its not quite as rapid as with the N95, but the battery seems to drop ALOT quicker than the N95 and it doesnt seem like it will last too long.
Have I got a bad battery or is this a firmware thing that should be fixed / expected behaivour?
Anyone else getting this?
I do leave Bluetooth on but this has never caused a problem for me on any other phone.
How long is your battery lasting?
I'm planning on getting the 16gb version but if the battery has a short life then will change my mind.
I currently have the Samsung U600 and the battery lasts 4 or 5 days (6 if it isn't used much)

I find that the battery meter also loses a bar quicker than did my N95. It seems that the battery indicator is a bit more "linear" than the N95 but the battery still doesn't last as long. At the moment I get about 48 hours standby with minimal use. About 36 with regular use - a few calls/texts and using the music player with bluetooth for about 40 minutes.
Make sure you:
1) Set your packet data to "When needed" instead of "When available"
2) Set wifi so that it doesn't continuously look for hotspots
3) Keep bluetooth off when not in use
No way you'll get anywhere near 5 days on standby though. Perhaps this has something to do with the phones poor reception. Maybe it uses more battery to boost the signal.
Let's not get our nickers in a twist over slight differences in how Samsung and Nokia have configured their battery meters. What actually matters is how long the battery lasts in the phone. i.e. how long between recharges before the battery dies completely.
The Nokia N95-1 (non 8GB model) is quite frankly attrocious at battery life! Yes, it's better with the new firmware updates (post V20), as they've implemented some more power saving tricks, but it's still pretty bad. Taking my average usage cycle, I could only ever guarantee 1 1/2 days use out of my N95, and that would drop to about 1/2 day if I made extensive use of GPS or camera, or if I travelled a lot (hence causing a lot of cell re-registration)
Using EXACTY the same usage model on my 8510 (so same email checking frequency, same auto-download frequencies etc) I can guarantee over 2 days out of the phone, dropping to no less than 18 hours so far with very extensive GPS use. (camera use doesn't kill the 8510 as badly as it does the N95)
You've got to look at this logically - the 8510 uses the same chipset as the N95, so has the same power draw. However, it's using a far more optimised software build, so it's power requirements drop. It's also got a far bigger battery than the N95 (about 30% bigger without doing the maths) so it's going to last better from that alone.
So to say the battery is worse than the N95 is codswallop! Even the N96 beats the N95, running more processes and with the same battery! That just shows the improvements in the software!

I think 5 days is possible IMO, i got my 8gb Innov8 on thurs last weekand left it charging for a full 16 hours for the first time. Almost 3 and a half days later and im still showing half battery. It got a bit of a hammering over the weekend but not excessive use. So far impressed with the battery...this coming from an SE user who regularly got 6-7 days out of his K850i.
Its all about the Initial charge! 😉
The i8510 has a great battery in my opinion - it can take a LOT more hammering than my N95 can and survives very well indeed!
I thought the initial charge thing was now completely unnessesary with Li-ion batteries?
It best had of been, because I didnt really bother!

5 days and counting from a single charge😊. Played several videos and surfed the web for a while. Taken a couple of dozen pictures and 3 or 4 slo mo vids, 30 or 40 texts recieved and replied to, setting/themes changed etc. General low to moderate usage. Still got 2 bars left.
Question, is there a menu somewhere which shows the percentage charge left in the battery?
