Next to the camera module, there is a small metal connection, which connects to a small patch on the (metal) battery cover. All I can think of is that its being used as an antenna for something. Can anyone confirm if im right, and what its for?

Also, is this on the back of the slider the GSM antenna or just a pattern?
(its not normally that white, but the camera flash seems to emphasize it alot)

The user manual indicates that the GPS antenna is in this region and recommentds not touching above the camera lens for best GPS reception. Strange that it's on the back.
Also a pity that the GSM reception is well below that of the N95. Even data speeds are drastically reduced by comparison. Still I prefer the ergonomics and look of this phone over my old N95. Now if only the alarm clock function would work...
It's not the GPS antenna (that is ABOVE the camera housing) and to be honest I don't think it's actually ANY form of antenna, as there's only one connection to it, not the 2 needed for an antenna.
I've also done some testing, cover on and cover off, and can't find any obvious signal strength changes in WiFi, network or GPS.
Well, it must be there for something, hopefully as the user base grows someone will find out.
GSM / 3G reception nearly always has less bars than the N95, but it also seems to be able to pick up just 1 bar when the N95 cannot.
N95 with AGPS off can lock faster than i8510 with AGPS on 😞
