Interesting - the Nokia E65 blog is reporting on a whole new version of Google Maps, complete with Street View and walking directions. But the S60 version on google.com is still the old v2.2, at least seen here in the UK. Does a new version appear for you? Comments welcome.
Read on in the full article.
Actually, it's available for Blackberries and Java phones, not Windows Mobile 😊
I found a way to install the 2.3.1 java version on my E61i. It works ok, except the My Location Feature doesn't work
Anyways, you can keep both version installed and use them according to your needs, that is, until an updated symbian version gets released 😉
Get it from here:

Thanks, news item tweaked
I would much prefer a "Direction Up" option option in google maps and an option to replan from current location. Its pretty useless as a serious sat nav solution without these.
i downloaded the version on the links posted in the comments section. the link from google maps was the same version as i already had on my phone.
on this new version - as reported, my location does not work. to even get to that feature you have to go into the help menu.
however, i no longer have to hold the function key down on my e71 to zoom in and out (1 and 3) (on the old version). not sure how my installing the version on the links above (not from the site) changed my old installation though?
i am going to keep both versions on my phone in case i need the street view...but will still be using the old version 99% of the time for the my location / gps feature.
I saw the Google car with cameras attached to the roof in Acton, London. I was wondering what are they up to. So that's what it was...
sadly still no street view for the uk....
took three attempts to get the file to install, but it is up and running on my n82 now... apart from the fact that my location isn't working as mentioned and you have to look at US city to make us of it (or paris of course)... i think it is an amazing app!
