Here is my story. I got a N95 (believed a N95-1) from a friend. It is an unlocked phone I suppose. I am in the U.S. I put in my ATT sim card and the phone works. It was designed and distributed in Chinese market and has the following firmware installed. The firmware information is here.

I am pretty sure it isn't the latest firmware cuz it doesn't have rotateme function. Anyhow, I like to do some upgrade and am afraid that it will bring some unthinkable damage or conflict? Well, i am not sure where to find the latest firmware yet.
I like to hear your advice on shall I or how I can proceed such upgrade.
Side question 1: I found the bluetooth paring doesn't work with my pathtronic discovery earpiece. In fact, it couldn't detected any other bluetooth enabled device
Side question 2: though I switch the display language from Chinese to English. It still have an annoying China mobile intro demo while turning on the device and periodically china mobile screen saver (I disable screen saver option already). How can I get rid of that too?

1. If you can't detect any bluetooth device, your handset may be faulty. Alternatively, try formatting the internal memory with *#7370# and see if it solves the issue.
2. De-Brand to a Generic APAC firmware, using NSS to change the product code, followed by using NSU to upgrade/re-apply the generic firmware.

I finally got the bluetooth work. It was a user error... :redface: Can you be more detailed on the De-brand-NSS-NSU process? I am such a newbie on this and I really like to learn...

Got it, Thanks. Just downloaded the 2 softwares. However, I am not sure which code I should debrand it to. It seems the ERUO-1 is the most popular destination. However, I am in the U.S., shall I change region code to N95-1 USA? I don't really know the difference between the euro and USA... any suggestions?
Also I have noticed that my version is RM-245 branded to ChinaMobile (it should not be locked as I can use my ATT Sim), after debranding - upgrading, will it become standard RM-159 under Euro-1 Sand code?
An RM-159 product code won't work on an RM-245.
And the RM-245 will still lack 3G/WCDMA and Wi-Fi/WLAN no matter what firmware version you use on it.
