Garmin XT 5.00.00 available — Nokia N95 and N95 8GB

Some parts of the Garmin site now reflects the availability of the new v5. But as usual, it's a mess. For example, you can select to download it from one updates page, but then end up with the 4.20.20 instead. Other links actually leads to the new version.

This seems to be a slightly updated version, with no major new breakthroughs. Maybe that's the reason why your old license is still valid.

Changes made from version 4.xx.xx to 5.00.00:

* Update the look and feel of the Garmin Mobile XT application.
* Add new Garmin Online feature - Google Local Search.
* Add new Garmin Online feature - Panoramio Photos.
* Add new Garmin Online feature - Flight Status.
* Add Speed Limit display to the View Map.
* Add ability to install and display custom vehicle icons.
* Modify 'Peerpoints' feature name to 'Location Message'.

So, what do you think SBC?

I like it, shame they didnt improve the framerate, but you cant have everything.

Havent tried the panoramio thing yet, but otherwise its impressive.

Annoyed at the Garmin rep telling me it was likely a new version, rather than an upgrade to the old one.

I did also. You have to uninstall Garmin, install the update via a PC, then install to the phone.

If it doesnt install automatically when you unplug/put the memory card back in, then the Garmin sis file will be in the root of your memory card.

Oh yes, thank you. I forgot about this. New version looks good, but there is a major bug in options (Route Preference). I can't select anything else than "Off Road". And BTW, translation into polish language is again horrible, lots of mistakes.
