Help please. Newbie N95 8GB

Hi,
This spring I bought a Nokia N95 8GB in the US, and it had US Maps preloaded. I would type an address and it would show the zoomable location:con?. Recently I updated its firmware from 15.0.015 to 20.0.016. In doing so, it wiped all my previously set telephone numbers etc. Also, it wiped the US Maps that had been preloaded, and came with the unit.
I have no interest in navigation, just the Maps., which I understand are included in the download.
I have tried downloading the "latest" Nokia Software Updater, and then the latest Nokia Maps, 2.0_2102_3.1 and followed (I think) the installation procedure for both, but nothing comes up on-screen when I try to see or search for a location - say Boston, etc.
I could really use some simple step help. Surely it can't be that difficult, and I have been computer-savvy for many years!
Thanks in advance!

I think Dave has it- it sounds as though you have installed the maps application but not the actual maps.

Thanks, folks.
This is where I'm confused. I did (apparently) install the "Maps Application," but I had assumed that the actual Maps (the pictures) came with that download. Or at least, I don't know how to install them.
If they were included in the "Nokia Maps 2.0" download, I started from the initial screen which has a 3x4 matrix, top line starting: Contacts/Messages/Maps, clicked on Maps (which brought up a dialog that network usage was disabled - OK)/ then Options: Find Place; Use this Place, etc. Result on none of these settings was a map on-screen. At this point I'm stymied.
If the Maps (the pictures) must be separately found and downloaded, I can't find them - it's not obvious on the Nokia Download site.
???:con?

someone posted above your post where you need to go to download the maps. you could also just let your phone download them right over the air if you have a data plan with your cell service.
