The Nokia N96 is now in stock on the Finnish electronics website Verkkokauppa.com, with the unlocked SIM-free version retailing for about 600 euros plus taxes. Going by past experience, the unlocked N96 should be in stock across the rest of Europe soon with network-locked versions available a short while later.

I'm blogging about how i find the N96 here:

Nice blog Macwhu! Could you confirm/deny a few things about the N96?
- Does the UK version have DVB-H? If not, that may help explain why they're pushing iPlayer so hard to make up for it.
- Is the N-Gage application included in the firmware or do you have to install it?
- If the N-Gage app is included, does it have lots of trial versions preinstalled, and does the phone come with a voucher for a free full game?
Ah, sorry, I missed the bit at the top of the blog where you said "Tetris is included", that answers my N-Gage questions. 😊
the uk version does have DVB-H. Ive not fired up teh application yet
but as theres no DVB-H broadcasts in the UK - its not going to work anyway.
iPlayer is the alternative. But presumably iPlayer will be available on all new S60 devices.

I know it sounded like a silly question 😊
I was asking because there was talk of simply removing it from the UK version, which seemed daft to me because someone in the UK might travel to a country where there are DVB-H broadcasts. Hopefully they've left it in.
Cool! Nice blog 😊
Mine's arriving tomorrow, cannot wait!
Can the flash leds be used as a flashlight, as on my N93?
what flop and embarrassment for nokia
Got mine last monday (in the Netherlands). I am very glad with it, but still accomodating to it. I come from an E61i. Syncing the 2 over bluetooth was a breeze, even though one of them had no sim-card.
There is a bug in the forum where if you make a comment from the news page, then it dissapears to another thread. For some reason it creates 2, one for the forum, one for the news article.
Or, did you mean this thread:

Yawn. It has been in stock here in Italy for the last couple of weeks. There's even a TIM-branded (but still unlocked) version that costs about 50 less.
On a somewhat-related note, Sandisk's 16GB micro sdhc cards have just gone on sale earlier this week, in UK and all over Europe (I believe), so you can upgrade your brand new N96 to a whopping 32GB (or, if you're like me, upgrade your not-so-new-anymore N82 to 16GB 😉). I bought mine on Amazon UK from one of their partner vendors, it should arrive here next week.
BBC iPlayer - Any idea if the d/load for this would count against a mobile data tariff?
Guess it must do, but data tariffs tend to have a 'fair use' policy - a limit of 0.5 or 1 gig per month. That would empty quite quickly if downloading TV programs...

Anything you download through your network operator is counted against whatever kind of data tariffs they charge you. If you use it on a phone with Wi-Fi/WLAN and download through that, then you're not charged data fees.

Thats the one, cheers mate.
Average N96 price here in Finland is 749.00 unlocked.
The bbc iplayer only allows you to play the videos via wireless LAN anyway. it wont allow you to play them through 3g or gprs.
Although i did manage to download iplayer off bbc's mobile website... send the executable across via bluetooth to the N95 which its not compatable with.. the program loaded and i was able to browse through the videos. only it automatically dialed the "contract WAP" connection (not wifi) you have no control over what connection it diales nomatter what you do.
Anyway long story short i didnt get to play the videos on the N95 cause i ouldnt get it to connect across WIFI. Played "tess of the D'urbervilles episode 3 on the N96 great though...
