I have followed the stick to change the region code in order to deband my N95 a RM-245 China mobile phone. NSS worked fine, however the NSU tells me that the 12.1.007 is the latest firmware version for this RM-245. Even the region code has been change to Euro -1. It seems RM-245 is the problem. I guess maybe NSS only works for the RM-159s.
How can I move forward, changing RM-245 to R-159??I am in the U.S and I don't care Nokia warranty. In addition, I don't want those stupid stuffs bundled with the phone by China mobile. I just want it to become a regular unlocked N95 without banding with any service and has the latest firmware.
Please help!
I don't know what would be the right product code for an unbranded RM-245, but it is not going to be the same product code as for an RM-159 or any other model, for that matter.
The product codes are unique for also different hardware (e.g., RM-159 would have different product codes than RM-245).
And as the RM-245 is for China only, there is no European version of the firmware for it, and using an RM-159 product code is quite likely not going to produce a useful firmware version via NSU (as it won't be valid for the RM-245).

Did some research, it seems the only way for me to get RM-159 is to use JAF software to reflash everything. anybody here tried that? where can i find a rm-159 euro-1 firmware package to be flashed in?
Probably nowhere without breaking at least copyright laws.
as I live in China I had to face this problem also. I found out that the Chinese N95 ( if not bought in HK or Singp) does not have WLAN. Even the hardware is not on board. This means of course you can not change your area code to an area where the N95 is suppposed to hae WLAN on board. This firmware is different from the Chinese one.
So, I have bought a new N95 in HK ( not made in China Mainland) and I have got WLAN and could change my countru codes to any European or ASIA region which includes WLAN. The other thing is that if you want to switch to a US code, it also may not be possible because the 3G ( UMTS, CDMA) frequenzies are quite different. SO you can possibly only change the country code to a region wich matches your 3G and your WLAN capabilities.

Thanks there. I don't know the Chinese made phone doesn't have hardware on board. Well, I already killed my phone after a house JAF flash. I am going to try with some guys who has JAF box to flash it this weekend. A phone is dead without those Wifi and internet features anyways... So gonna to try. I hope the missing hardware won't prevent a new flash to a euro RM-159 firmware... We will see...
