I am having great problems getting my N82 to synchronise with my pc and outlook express.
My best bet is to remove all the nokia software from the pc and then re'load from the disk that came with the phone. sometimes, but not always, the pc then recognises the phone and allows the sync. after I re-boot the pc the pc doesn't recognise the connected phone.
I have downloaded the latest nseries software from the nokia support site but this makes no difference.
last night it took me 3 hours to get the phone to sync with the pc.
when I connect the phone to the pc , the phone shows "pc suite activated"
I connect the pc to the N82 using the supplied USB lead.
any thoughts please?

You have informed that you have removed all Nokia software... but you might have missed PC Connectivity solution 😊 So now what you can do is uninstall Nokia PC Suite, Nokia connectivity cable driver, PC Connectivity solution run some reliable PC Suite cleaner which will erase unwanted registried from your PC (before that kindly do have a back up of all your contacts, calenders, registries well in advance). Being a proud owner of Nokia NSeries N82, you will have option for downloading three pc suites on your PC
Nokia PC Suite 7.0.8.2
Nokia NSeries PC Suite 2.1.270
Nokia OVI Suite 1.0.434
Nokia PC suite 7.0.8.2 will have options for editing phone numbers and you can send SMS from your PC using this PC suite
Nokia NSeries PC suite and Nokia OVI Suites are advanced versions of Nokia PC Suite but these pc suites wont have Nokia Communication centre, an application through which you can edit your phone book contacts and Messages.
So you can install both Nokia PC Suite 7.0.8.2 and as well as NSeries/Nokia OVI Suite on your PC. I would say you can install Nokia PC Suite 7.0.8.2 and Nokia OVI Suite 1.0 on your PC. Nothing harm in this. You can avail all the features provided by these pc suites......
The choice is yours, the ball is on your court now 😊 Install these pc suites and restart your PC and start enjoying the features of these PC suites....
