it's true! the provided nokia e71 earphones are very bad!
The sound is horrible, today i brought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm plug converter and connect my ipod earphones on the e71 and the sound is great.
I was starting to get upset with the e71 but the problem is in the earphones!
Can anyone post here earphones that are already with the 2.5mm plug (do not need the adapter), and that have a good sound quality.
Thanks for your time folks.
Well, same thing with my E90 Communicator.
am using my old P910i 2.5mm earphones and the sound quality is the best.
but i dont wanna see Sony Ericsson mark each time i use it...i wanna know too if there is a 2.5mm earphones from nokia give me the sound quality of Nseries.
Have to agree with you both here and I am sure many other music fans will also. Being an E series device nokia have cut corners well "Nokia's smart marketing plan" Don't focus on Music/Multimedia like the N series which is totally understandable both solutions are better options as I have tried them both.
I am currently using the adaptor and sennheiser PXC series. 😊
Wish nokia would just stick 3.5mm plug converter in the box.
I had a spare SE walkman headphones which are on par with the P9Series headphones. To be honest best bet is the converter as you then have a huge selection of headphones to choose from.
phonebooth has a few earphones that come standard in the 2.5mm pin.....
Hi okcerto,
The headphones delivered with the E71 are indeed horrible.
I have an 2,5 to 3,5 Nokia adapter and use it on planes with Sennheiser or Shure headphones. I don't know the types but it is the high prices range.... 😉
But normally I use stereo bluetooth music with the Jabra 3030. It is a dogtag like device which can be use with any 3,5 headphone jack. It works great and the sound quality is in my honest opinion (I'm a musician) good enough.

Nice the Jabra3030...
The problem is that I don't want another device to charge.
I didn't knew that nokia have 2,5 to 3,5 adapter.
Is it good ? , because I brought one from a white brand and the connection is a bit loose...
I use these with my E66, very good: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-CX300-2-5mm-Mobile-Earphones/dp/B000UE28CE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1222859096&sr=8-1
Bought them as converters add a large bit of bulk to a set of headphones, and looks and feels odd when used on a phone.
The Nokia adapter is ok. It seems to be good but I use it only on flights which is maybe once every month.
The Jabra 3030 is great but needs a seperate charger. So maybe the Sennheiser which Bartmanekul is sugesting is not a bad idea!

The best ear phones with 2.5 mm jack are
'Sennheiser CX300 Black with 2.5mm Connector' (price 32 EUR): 18Hz - 21kHz, 112 dB, 16 Ohm
Others earphones with 2.5 mm jack are Hama HK-271: 16 Ohm, 98 dB, 141 mV, 20-20000 Hz, price 8 EUR - I have it, it has poor quality bass, it is not for disco music; noise on high volume
I'd go along with the whole "buy a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter" camp. The disadvantage of this is that you won't have a microphone on the headphones, but the advantage is that buying 3.5mm headphones is much easier.
For a variety of reasons, I use my E71's music player, Podcaster application and FM radio sparingly - only when I either don't have my Zen with me or in the very rare case when it's out of power. This is partially a legacy issue from previous smartphones, because of issues muting sound when a call came in and wanting a wired headset for music and a Bluetooth headset for calls* when in the car.
Anyway because I did this I have bought myself a decent quality, noise-blocking pair of earphones, which are of course 3.5mm. When I was looking at the E71 I was a little disappointed that it had a 2.5mm port but it wasn't a dealbreaker as my Zen works just fine...🙄
*I know there are plenty of solutions, but I didn't want to install a hands free kit into the car I had at that time, but I am weakening because the Nokia CW-15 kit is rather tempting.
