Hello All
I have been running V30 for 3 weeks now and overall very disappointed!
I have had my N95 for almost 12 months and have done firmware upgrades from V12,14 20 & 21 using PC Suite to back up & NSU and then restore. Never had a fault and Love my phone.
I was thrilled when V30 was announced thinking any improvements will make a great phone greater... alas!
The faults:
1.
Battery life has seemed to dropped noticably. No new software added and nothing running in the background.
2.
Phone has frozen up a least 4 times and had to remove battery to re-boot (this has never happened with previous versions of firmware.
3.
Auto-rotate... Rubbish. Slow to initially switch to landscape and will rotate when you don't want it to.
Is there any way I can switch firmware back to V21 or can someone make a suggestion?
All advice welcome!
Did you restore a comple back up including settings?
What applications do you have installed?
You cannot legally downgrade firmware yourself.
Maybe try a new battery.
Yes... I did restore all the settings. Have got very few applications installaed and the only one I have running all the time is Nokia 810 Contacts download which pushes my phone book to my Audi. Have had this application for 8 months.
Could the battery possibly be fault after less than 12 months?
Well it seems I could be stuck with V30 and am certain this is the only the reason for the new selection of faults.
It's always better to have a new firmware. V30 is quite good, autorotation is not so bad. Everything could be better though...

I agree, it s like 75% capacity of the battery with v20.
In last month/s I haven t got any freeze at all. But I only backup and restore phone numbers.
yes I agree as well about the battery life, auto-rotate and lack of additional software but I never had a freezing issue since the update, I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the way you backup - I don't even know if I did the backup correctly....I mean I backed-up my contacts, music, games, etc but I wasn't sure how to back up the settings....I just went to "Tools-->Utilities-->>Memory" and through option I selected "Backup phone memory", is there another or different way to backup settings?
And regarding the battery life, that has always been a problem with N95...I've only had my N95 for like 4 months and I've already noticed the poor battery performance/life.
Or maybe battery life is the same, but now battery bar is more accurate...
Anyone else been using the nokia energy profiler? It's not showing much (any?) difference to me from v20 to v30.
