Slow Unresponsive Texting on N96?

9 replies · 7,506 views · Started 01 October 2008

Well basically I have bought this phone from using an N95 8GB and was expecting great improvements of what was already a great phone. Im pretty impressed with some of its features however texting is stupidly slow and unresponsive. I could text quite quickly on my N95 8GB and it would register each press, whereas this fails to register some of my key presses.

I know the Processor isnt as quick as on the N95 8GB but still it should be tested to at least text properly. Any one else having problems like this?

I've not had any problems texting - in fact i'm quicker with the smooth keypad than the old N95 keypad.

ahh right. maybe its my phone then, might need to get it replaced. How quick do you type though?
The bloke in vodafone said he couldnt see a problem really, but then he was typing slow and its fine if you just type slow.

i would say i was moderatly quick
esp certain messages which i do regularrly i dont even look as im T9ing.

hello i am on the 608 xxx

took me 11 seconds.

Personally I find the 'smooth' keypad a lot more challenging than the keypad on the N95 Plum and N95 8GB. Especially the keys on the top row. My fingers keep bumping into the base of the screen. I think it looks great, but in terms of functionality, it's not for medium-sized fingers.

ah im not sure what to do, as i had ago on my n95 8gb again the other day and it was so much quicker!
I might take it back, try another one and if not will have to get a different phone, but if i get something different i will probably want to get the C905, which wont be out inside my 14 day exchange days. Any ideas what I can do?

I suppose i could sell it and buy the other one sim free.

Ah i tried to update but i cant as im on Vodafone branded. I will prob just sell it and get the Samsung Innov8. Same spec, better camera and keep my Vodafone sim card.

N96 texting does indeed seem a lot slower and even unresponsive at times. The ridged keyboard of the N95 was simply brilliant. Part of me wants to go back to the N95 now, or I may just get the 8GB version to keep me occupied for a while.
The keypad on the i8510 isn't that much better though (than the N96's).
