Google has soft-launched Picasa Web Albums for S60, making available an optimised version of the service via their usual m.google.com starting page. There are some screenshots below. You can play slideshows, comment on other peoples' media and, of course, organise your photos into albums. Note that not all the functions seemed to work as I wrote this - maybe some switches have yet to be thrown!

Why don't they just provide an interface for Share Online? The smartphone world is already like the PC world in the sense that there are a zillion and one ways of doing the same thing.

No, I mean one for Picasaweb. I actually use Picasaweb, Flickr, and Ovi, all for slightly different things. I thought the whole idea of ShareOnline was to be a kind of aggregator for all these different services. So Google don't want to bring Picasa onboard with that? Shame... more fragmentation.

Nice to see a company (Google) supporting the smartphone platform with 50% global market share (Symbian) and not just the one with 2% market share (iPhone).

Creating a picasa plugin for share online would've been a better idea. First Share online then Shozu and now this. What's the use of creating so many apps with the same functionality?

be great if there was a way to upload all your images to 3 or 4 photo sharing sites in one go for example to flickr picaso ovi-share etc.
