Nope. It defaults to loaded firmware which is going to be what 'locks' the phone to a carrier and makes the phones damn near unusable IMO. My wife recently got a Nokia 5610 XressMusic for T-Mobile and it amazes me how many Nokia functions are locked or unaccessible and I can see why Nokia wouldn't want to work with T-Mobile or other carriers for that matter. They make some great phones and carriers want them to eliminate all the functionality they add to their phones. Lame.

Yeah i have found this when i go to use the 'Download!' application on my phone, as it never updates, and there are some sites on the net that tell you to go there to download the software, and for me its not there. so i presumed, and appear to be right, that its t-mobile messing around with what they shouldn't mess around with! very annoying.

if anyone finds a way of completely reinstalling the software, i did the firmware update/overwrite... and it fixed a tiny bit of the horrible t-mobile stuff.

so, if it was unlocked and then had the firmware reinstalled, this would solve all horrible t-mobile problems..?

think i will try it anyway

cheers

finally, i have the download! application working!

today for some reason it let me download 'download!' for my model (E51) from http://europe.nokia.com/A41017032

then i installed it to the memory card, as the phone would not see the original broken download! software already on the phone and possibly choose to not install, like it did last time i tired.

then in my applications folder now i have the download! software! yey!

thought i would share the goo news.

just to stop t-mobile putting horrible bookmarks all over my browser now 😊
