Is it because I'm on Vodaphone?
Is there away to force the firmware on?
The 50second wait when trying to reply to an sms is driving me bat shit crazy.

Yes its because your on vodafone.
You could debrand (assuming NSS supports FP2 phnoes?), but this will invalidate your warranty.
Head on over to the vodafone forums and see whats happening, I daresay theres a discussion about it already.

i debranded my Orange N96 using NSS. v11.101 now.
I dont know what this ns is you speak of, can you link me and give me a brief overview of what I should do?
I got my N96 from carphone warehouse on 06-10-2008
Unbranded, not restricted to a network. 99.99.
original product code was 0573063 and came with F/W 10.065
As at 18:45 10-10-2008 Nokia website was reporting that no update was available to F/W 11.101.
I've changed my product code to 0568238 using NSS and used NSU to upgrade F/W to 11.101.
No loss of data, not even text messages. Secure content still works.
No noticable difference, yet - then again, it's only been 10 minutes.

mine too is 0573063 - bought sim free from nokia direct.
also no updates for it.
Thats a problem with Nokia i think 😡
Atleast they should relase the update for sim free hansets at more or less same time in UK as it comes available.
Those who don't get the updates soon enough some time they are force to change the product code just to get a new update, but cost of losing there handsets warranty so end user lose. If they keep there warranty then no updates soon enough. Losing again.
Now my N96 cam with 0573063 product code sim free and there is no update.
N96 with product code of 0568238 has an update.
I dont know how Nokia plays 🙄
Not really happy at all.

yep - i took mine back to nokia for that exact reason
until they sort it out.
i'm not prepared to start hacked a brand new sim free phone.
i wonder if its just uk/iplayer thats caused the delay?
Am not bother to much any more with N96. Only had a phone for week, now its on ebay. :frown:
Am geting N85 me. I had preorder last month from expansys.

the N85 will have just as many problems when it first comes out.

Well, like one of the other users has mentioned before me, the N85 is also most likely to have such software and other issues when it gets released. No phone from Nokia (at least the Smartphones) is perfect when it is released. Things get sorted out slowly over time with software / firmware updates. This is not to discourage you regarding the N85, but don't be too hopeful that the phone would be perfect. You should be prepared to face issues like the N96.
I am sure around 5-6 months from now with another firmware update or two, the N96 would be a much better phone and I hope all of you N96 / N95 users here would agree.
Warm regards,
Venkat
You guys maybe right am really lost right now, no clue where to go. :con?
I also have Sam i8510 and N95 8gig. For time being am start using N95 8gig again.
To be honest everywhere on web N96 getting kicked, I never really wanted to buy N96 at first place but I still did, don't know why.
Am hoping Ill get me self settle with N85 till high end Nseries touch stuff comes out.
