No jokes OFFICIALY RELEASED BY SONY OPERA IS HERE
I have a P800 purchased from a Chicago Importer and it has older Organizer software CXC162001 R1C02, the installation instructions for P800_opera.sis requires a prerequisite of CXC162001 R1F01....
Any suggestions? Sony tells me about a month before they can update my phone.
have you tried to install it? i have it installed on organizer r1c02 and it works perfectly...
I will try to install, thanks. Due to my rigid personality, I am not good at breaking outside the rules.
How do I download this file. I try and try, but I can only download a pdf acrobat file that opens as a bunch of crazy stuff. Even if I send this to my phone, again it just opens as if it was a word file.
Click the link and choose download; how hard can it be?!
well, That is kinda what i've been doing
Works fine here....
Sure you don't have som kind of download-accelerator or download-manager installed that could f*ck it up? If so, disable them...
Yes! Aol has. I downloaded a file called p800-Opera.sis.html to my desktop, then y transfered through bluetooth to my p8 and now i don't know how to install it. If i go to install in app. there's no file to install. if I opene it it just goes as a bookmark to internet, but it dowsn't take me anywhere... Help.
The file should not have html in the end. Remove that and it should work for you...
Okay, i feel very stupid now 😮ops:
I beamed to the p8, then I save it. if I open it it opens as an internet bookmark and gives me this mesage.:
You have chosen to download a file...
I say yes, it answers done but it just adds a new bookmark and the process repeats itself....what am I doing wrong?
is it like ReqWireless browser?
I mean will it recozgnize my BlueTooth connection and let me use my DSL connection to browse Opera for free?
Haven't tried, but if you have dsl why not just use your PC!! 😮
gadget..
thast what I liked about the P800... I could be in the living room studying or doing work and i wanna check my mail or this forum..all i have to do is use the ReqWirelesss and browse via my DSL via BT
and UP DATE
BlueTooth will allow you to share your dsl connection on your P800 for free

Yes, this will work fine. Provided you have P800 PC Suite installed on your PC, but I assume Webviewer requires that too so for you it should work automatically.
my cable internet home connection sends the iternet shooting to my phone when connected to the base pictures and all that. :shocked!:
Yep, that's what's great about the WebViewer and the Opera browser, they accept a BT/IR/USB connection over GPRS/dialup! 😃
It even works with the built-in browser, but that requires some "tweaking"...
The built-in browser will always search for an internet account first so you have to "fool" it to make it work through BT/IR/USB.
yah the Opera works GREAT with BT..
Raven,..can u explain how to "fool" the built in browser? 😊
thanks
Well, I have a kind of wierd little rituale to make it work... My operators GPRS settings will get detected by the P800 even if I don't fill in any internet account settings other than the account name(whatever I wan't) and the connection type(GPRS). - That is all the settings I need to browse the web through GPRS.(same goes for my WAP account)
Now, here's what I do too fool the browser to think it's still connected to GPRS;
- Enable Bluetooth(or IR/USB) on your P800 and connect it to a PC with an active internet connection.
- Go to your P800 browser and download 1 page.(the browser will choose GPRS even though Bluetooth is enabled)
- Disconnect from GPRS.
- Go to your internet account settings and delete them.
- (this is the wierd part)- Go to you WAP account, tap Edit-Done-Preferred-Done
-Now, go back to your browser and reload the page you previously downloaded with GPRS. Now you will notice that the page starts loading without any GPRS icon displayed, meaning that you are successfully connected through Bluetooth and you PC's internet connection!!! 😃 😃
How do I know that you're actually connected through Bluetooth you ask? - Because if you wasn't, you would get a message popping saying that you need to set up an internet account.
There you go. I know it sounds a little wierd, and perhaps there is an easier way to do it, but this "trick" works for me every time! 😃
My hats' to you Raven !!
I know you feel, check out my way to connect to ur pc via BT.. haha it took alot of " trial and error ".
Listen man, I have another problem.
Im in the US, Cingular doesnt know GPRS is. After 4 days of talkign to Tech Support and failure. One morning I woke up and it just "worked". Now i wanna reset my phone and the only thing stopping me is the fact that I dont wanna go thru what I had gone thru with Cingular.
What do you suggest ?
Well answer me this if you can
1- if i back my phone up to my PC COMPLETELY,
then reset my phone to its orginal manufactuer's settings.
Then ReStore it back after resetting. Will my unKnown GPRS setting be set again ? Will for example my games be there, my l;ast dialled numbers.. my ring tones ?
If you answer yes, then great !
If not then
2- LOL there has to be a way to look up my setting on my phone it self and write them down on a paper or take a screen shot off it.
thanks !
Hehe.. Yeah, a back up should do the trick! You shouldn't lose anything by doing it..
Good luck anyway! 😊
Cheers

FANTASTICO ! 😃
Raven,
1-have you yourself tried backing up ur phone and then resettini t and then restoring it ? : x plz say yes lol..
2-How can i check out my provider's GPRS settings?
1) Nope, haven't needed to yet...sorry, but it shouldn't be any problems.
2) Check your operators web site perhaps...? 😉
Okay, I'm really pissed off. I tried downloading it with both explorer and AOL and it just doesn't do it. I press download and it just opens a text page. If I save that page it transfers with the right name but as an AOL or Explorer file, so mwhen it reansfered to the P8 it tells me there's no device to read it, or it just sits as a bookmark and loops me back and forth, but it doesn't actually get installed.
Could anybody email me this program directly to [email protected] maybe as an atachment I can open it. I normally don't have any problems downloading. and I've been able to install stuff from the discs to the P8 via bluetooth. I think i have trouble downloading SIS files or something.
Thank you

You are JOKING right ?
Cingular... does not even know wha GPRS is.. i dont know how i got it to work.. it took me about 6 days..
@me:
I think you have saved the link to the p800.sis not the file itself. Go to the link again and see if it asks you to download a file which is 800kb in size.
Only then if it's that big, send it to the phone.
Ok, I'm happy that it's released, but I got a question. Is it only available in English or in other languages as well. I wouldn't really like a completely Dutch P800 with an English opera.... :-?
Okay. thamks to Raven and joker for sending me the program. It works perfectly. It is a little slower, so for things like checking movietheatres, restaurants and email i'll continue to use wap.
Once I figure out rave's little trick to use the homecomputer it should rock to download e.t.c. Specially since I don't seem to figure out how what the problem was.
Great prgram. Now let's hope Avant Go does the same thing. 😉 😃
