9210 Contacts?? Do you like it?

I'm very interesting to collect opinions about Contacts ...

9210 is a great machine but Contacts irritates me much User posted image. Yes, there are some new features from Psion Contacts but a lot more was lost. Oh, nostalgia...

Am I alone with it? What's your Contacts dream User posted image? What features do you want to see in such program?

P.S. I'm about to rewrite iContacts app. (http//www.symbianware.com) to Nokia92xx and any your suggestion would be very useful.

Regards,
Zeus

The contacts app is probably one of the best I've used, but I much prefer the way contacts are organised in People in BeOS.

I'm with Switchblade. After using the contacts application on a PocketPC, the one on my 9210 is a dream.

I think it would be nice if we could have a practical use for the groups, but apart from that, I like it.

That's not to say that I wouldn't be interested in iContacts though User posted image

Can you describe it pls? It seems it's interesting.

Yeah, comparing to PocketPC it's a dream User posted image

But is it ideal? Do you need
Fully customizeable search, folders (not groups), export/import to vcf, attractive and customizeable interface, integration with Calendar, ...
That's a few from my own wish list. What's about you User posted image?

Reagrds,
Zeus

I would like to see

search and find by any criteria

search find and sort by any .....

possibilitie to have one specified ID come up on incomeing call even though I have the same phone number for different names

Last time entry updated

Possibilitie to add prefixs to a group of
specified entrys ie for number changes nationwide or to add international prefixes
or just when I am behind a PBX

link between journal and a contact

link between documents and a contact
ie faxs emails sms word docs etc

possibilitie to add any field I need like door codes , floors etc

search and find identical data in different contacts

to be able to merge inteligently different contact bases without creating multiple entrys then haveing to manually edit them

To be able to filter displays
ie name and fax no only or name and Gsm
etc

To have a field that can be coded for sensitive data

I ll stop dreaming over to you.......

The people app is basically a folder in which each person is a file and the files attributes store data that you are able to search etc. But the downfall of that is that the BeFiling System is a giant database so is unimplementable on the 9210.

Gosh and all i was looking for was some way to link the bday field to the calander...

But that other stuff sounds kick ass!

Woohoo here we go with another cool app on its way!

Thanks,

Easy one. Almost ready User posted image

> sort by any .....
It's not so hard, but it will slowdown the system. There have to be some predefined indexes

This program have to be fully compatible with standard one.
It means that they will be work with the same data set.
It allows you
- To work in both programs at the same time.
- To avoid duplicates in both programs, which saves your disk space.
- To see up-to-date information about your contacts in all applications using standard contacts database files (iContacts, Contacts, Email, Tel, PC Suite, and etc.)
- To synchronize your contacts with PC with PC Suite the way you used to.

Interesting idea. Need to think ...

Linking?? How do you imagine it? It's really possible to collect anniversaries and export them to agenda file that you select. And I've already done this code.
Something like that http//www.symbianware.com/res/ic/sh11.jpghttp//www.symbianware.com/res/ic/sh11.jpg</a>

Did you mean something else?...

I used to earn a liveing writeing CPM and Z80 programmes in assembler if I can be of any help delighted to but all that is a long time ago and havent tried any of these new languages since ........

Aside from what cmurray has already listed, it would be most useful if text would automatically warp in the right hand pane so that, for instance, the Address of Notes fields can be fully read without going into the Edit mode.

FIND function should work on all fields as well as in the phone numbers fields.
Also, search should be possible for partial words. For instance it should be possible to do a search for 'MBI' in syMBIan.

Find function already works on address fields, names, e-mail etc...

Would be nice to have find on partial works, but it would be pretty slow I guess.

Looks good, looking forward to the application being ready.

One thing which would make it a killer app for me would be a way of synching directly from the PC onto a MMC card... This way you could use a fast USB reader to access the card. This would require a Windows program of course, but if you know the file structure it should be relatively easy?

The serial cable link is to flaky, too slow... my main complaint with the phone really.

Try to use Nokia 9210 emulator on your PC. I really don't know can you map your USB reader to it. But why should not try?
Anyway, if it's hard or impossible with standard tools, there are "another" ways. Keep looking on our "PowerDrive" program that's comming soon.

Hmmm, interesting thought. You mean one could set up a fake link to the emulator on the PC? That would be cool.

I did notice PowerDrive on your web site. What is it?

Yes but FIND does not work on fields like Job Title and Notes, which is most annoying. It should do a search in ALL fields.

Sounds like a very interesting idea. I'm certain there would be a market for iContacts on the 9210, although as others have said the contacts program is good already.

I'm intrigued about Power Drive too! Let me/us know when you have something.

Ok

Not too keen on the contacts. I preferred the old contacts on the 9110.

When setting up the templates you cannot (to my knowledge) create just 1 record for the address and have multiple lines, rather than having an entry for street name, town, city, zip/postcode etc.

Also, you cannot adjust the order and so the zip/postcode comes at the top.
