Is it really not possible to access the files on the p800 over the usb cable ??? how do i get my photos from the device ? is it only possible over 'air' ?

Sure it is.. If you install the PC Suite, it'll give you a "My P800" icon on your desktop. From there it'll open Windows Explorer and provide access to the phone and memory stick.
