Exchange crashing N95 8GB on FW 30

Hi,

I have an exchange profile set up on my N95 8GB. This worked very well on the previous firmware; updated my emails from work and all my calendar stuff every 15 mins - didn't fancy the always on as in my line of work what is THAT important that they don't call me?

Did a firmware update to 30 a week ago and now I have 2 issues. Firstly on startup my screen displays the background to the application menu for several seconds after staring and before I can use the phone - this I can live with and I only include for information in case it's relevant. More importantly if exchange tries to connect to the server when the phone is shut and keyboard locked it crashes. Doesn't seem to happen if the phone is open and a manual sync works flawlessly.

The crash state is the standard idle screen with no backlight. The keys unlock with opening the keyboard and I can use the shortcut keys. The backlight never comes on and I can't actually do anything except open the shortcut key programs (not use them). The 3G connection icon is in the dotted state suggesting it is finishing or attempting to start a connection. However it stays like this indefinitely (ok overnight...) and there is no way of doing anything except removing the battery to reset.

So any ideas?? anyone else had this happen? Is it likely to be a duff FW install? If so what's the best thing to ensure a good one... format the mass memory?

Any help gratefully received!

Cheers
sb

I would recommend the following:-

Format the Memory.
Reinstall V30 firmware.
Reinstall from Nokia PC Suite Backup but DO NOT include Settings as these may/will run in conflict with your updated firmware.
