N-Gage Vouchers: Would you use them?

5 replies · 2,805 views · Started 14 October 2008

A lot of people have had trouble buying N-Gage games because they don't have a credit card and bill payment isn't available on their phone network. A solution for this would be vouchers, which you could buy in cash from various real life shops and use to load credit into the N-Gage app, so you could then purchase games. Would you want to see some kind of voucher system made available for buying N-Gage games? Take part in our online poll and let us know. (It's worth noting that Nokia has many other pay-for online services including Nokia Maps and Nokia Music Store which could easily use the same vouchers.)

Sorry about the lack of updates recently, a few technical hitches. Normal service has been resumed... 😊

Incidentally, I don't personally have a credit card so if my phone network didn't support N-Gage bill payments I wouldn't be able to use N-Gage at all.

I think part of the problem is that a lot of N-Gage staff are based in America where credit cards are very easy to get hold of, so they assume everyone who wants a card has one. However, in Europe and Asia (where most of N-Gage's users are) it's much harder to get a credit card, and of course people under 18 have no credit cards at all.

Hey Tzer2 ! Have you any Idea what's Nokias Ngage Team up too?
Its allmost 1 month they released their last game ? I am really bored !!
Do they want people to forget ngage ?

The other thing is where is the promise for ngage on N73 and N93 gone ? we don't need to tell them how important it is to bring Ngage on these 2 models !!
They very well know how much important n73 is ? there are so many people using it.
They are doing their own Loss to a very big extent, and I dont think its such a big problem for them to overcome the RAM issues? A little effort and it can be definatley solved.

Also on the nokia forum site it was mentioned that the N96 had 3d graphics Accelerator Support, but now they have removed it from the N96 Device Specification section ! what are they exactly upto ??

Do you have any idea if the upcomming N79 has support for 3D Acceleration, because we all know that the new Ngage SDK can make use of this feature for better looking games, and who would not enjoy playing games with good graphics ???? Also many developers will be making use of this feature.

Presumably just an initial web page mistake that was corrected. Nothing do with the hardware; the N96 never had 3D graphics hardware acceleration.

Not there, as far as I know.

N/A is probably right, the best explanation for the sudden appearance and disappearance is a simple mistake on Forum Nokia's part.

AFAIK none of Nokia's new phones have graphics hardware built into them. But there are some new models due for the Spring which we haven't seen yet so perhaps we should wait and see what turns up.

At a guess I'd say they've been busy getting N-Gage ready for the N79 and N85 launches, as the thing N-Gage needs most right now is to increase its userbase.

The best way to do that is to embed the N-Gage app into phones straight out of the box, which is what's started happening over the past few weeks, first with the N96, now the N85 and soon the N79. In 2009 we may see N-Gage embedded in all new S60 devices.

If they can get a good userbase for the platform, that will do more than anything else to attract third party game publishers.
