Hi - I'm thinking of purchasing a sim free N96, I'll be transferring my Nokia maps licence from my N95 8gb to my new handset but also fancy installing a sat nav system, either garmin mobile xt or co-pilot live 7. I want software that accesses the N96 onboard GPS so this rules out TOMTOM. Any words of advice from anyone that's tried either Garmin or Co-pilot on an N96 ? ease of installation, usage etc etc...all comments welcome !

There is a program that lets TomTom use the internal gps on the nokia. Its called GPSd. Try and Google it.
