I tried running the hello carbride hack I did on my N95, to no avail.

"HelloOX 1.03" is what you need to search for.
And then find yourself the hacked version of "X-Plore 1.30 Trail Version" that lets you see all folders, including Sys, System and Private.

tried this on my N85 but didn't work as well. got the error 'request to access application not granted.' when installing signed helloOX 1.03

Have you signed it with a 17 Capabilities Cert? (i.e. a OPDA Cert?)
i don't think a symbian signed cert (before they stopped giving them away to registered users) works.

The file is a rar file with a doc file inside.
Why can't you read it?
You find your IMEI by typing *#06# in your phone.
