I have a Sony Ericsson P1i and I just bought a Sony Ericsson G900.
The problem is that I have a vey large number of SMS messaages in my P1i and they are stored in eight different folders..
Can someone help by telling me the way to transfer the SMS to the new phone in their existing format i.e. folders. Copying to the SIM is very annoying and time consuming + I have a huge number of sms messages.
Previously I had the same problem as I could not transfer the SMS messages from my previous P990i to the P1i. I still have the P990i so if there is a way to transfer those messages to the G900 that will be a big hep.

Have you tried experimenting with PC Suite export/backup? i know it's hit-or-miss but it's closest to native...
i don't know if 'floAt�s Mobile Agent' is able to import/export messages to different phones/profiles - but i do know with a bit of fiddling with ports setting [google] it IS possible to hook it with P1i/M600i... some limitations may be there.
Though, the sim card way seems to me the most convenient [and least time consuming?] way still... :-/
For normal message backup i use Best Message Storer, but that's clearly one way only... is it?
You may want to try the following:
1) Install MyPhoneExplorer 1.7 software, it is available for download from http://www.fjsoft.at/en/.
2) Run the MyPhoneExplorer and copy all SMS messages from your P1i into Archive (Computer) and disconnect it. As for your G900, just make a connection first (to allow MyPhoneExplorer to create the database) and then quit the MyPhoneExplorer software.
3) Check the "C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\MyPhoneExplorer" folder. You should see both "Sony Ericsson P1i" and "Sony Ericsson G900" folders.
4) Copy the "SMSArchive" file from "Sony Ericsson P1i" into "Sony Ericsson G900" folder.
5) Run MyPhoneExplorer again and transfer all SMS messages from SMSArchive back to the respective folder in your G900.
Please note that the date/time stamp is reset to current date/time for all Sent messages.
I hv downloaded myphone explorer ! i can also tranfer messages to so called archive(computer). Can any 1 tell me where is this archive in computer ???? i want to transfer the messages to my mail...where are they stored ???
