Hi everyone,
i have a nokia 6630 mobile while is running on Symbian OS8.0a. my problem is that most of the softwares that i try to install give the error as 'file corrupt'. if am not wrong then this is happening because those softwares are designed for Symbian OS9.1/9.2 models(it is expressly mentioned that those softwares are for 9.1 nad 9.2 models).
so now whats the solution for it? is this the end of the road for my 6630 OR is there a method which can make those applications run on my 6630.
on a 2nd thought, isnt it possible to reinstall my Symbian OS from 8.0a to 9.2?
a timely help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
You have to live with S60 2nd Edition or S60 1st Edition applications with the 6630. No way to upgrade to S60 3rd Ed./Symbian 9.
A searchable, organized catalog of S60 2.*/1.* software here:

oh ic. thats disappointing. how about the nokia care centers? cant they flash it to a new OS?
but its surprising to see that such a new phone like 6630 is unable to handle these new applications and theres no effort made to make these apps old OS compatible.
No, the care centers can only flash the latest firmware version for the hardware, and the latest firmware version still uses the old/original Symbian/S60 versions that the original firmware used. The Symbian/S60 versions stay the same throughout the entire lifetime of the device (or, at least, that has been the case with all Symbian based phones for as long as they have existed). A firmware package intended for a different device (diffferent hardware) will not work on another device.
The 6630 is not new, it is at least 4 years old.
It has limited memory, a slow and old processor, and most likely does not have even room for the latest Symbian/S60 versions, nor the processor perfornace to run them (or, a lot of the functionality/features/applications would have to be stripped out).
Keep using the device, if it works for you, but if you want to run newer software and get a newer Symbian/S60 version on your phone, then you have to buy a new phone.
