Hello guys. I never had a communicator but I owned few S60 devices and many nokia phones. I switched to an i600 this summer, and 3 weeks ago I got a blackberry pearl 8110. I've been wanting an E90 ever since it came out, but due to the price and the rumored problems, I didn't get one. Now, I can't resist the temptation anymore and I am gonna spend all my savings on an E90. But since I live in such a shit "country" where there is no such thing as returning the product if it has some issues, I have to be 100% sure I get the right thing.
1. I don't care about the color as long as it is not red(red is the last choice if everything else fails). So I want the v2 version where the keys are flat and the GPS and other hardware related issues are solved. Is the v2 also available in mocca? Or only black?
2.I also heard some rummors about E90i? Is that the v2 or is the i version something else that is gonna come in the near future? So how many versions are there?
Except the NR_14 on the board and the flat keyboard, what are other signs of it being a v2 E90? If it is not black?
P.S. Why the F*** is this guy's E90 messed up? The D-PAD is on the left in here and the hinges are on the right

Got a black one...all blask E90 have flat keyboard..i have one now without problems for 2 months of heave usage and it come with 2gb while others come with 512mb but its 30+$ too.
If the Keyboard is flat then u r in the safe side only if u buy a chinese clone for 50$ lol.
Apart from the keyboard touching the screen, I am not aware of any hardware "issues" on the E90. I have a red E90 (and it's a very nice shade of red) from last year, and have not had any hardware problems at all, so I'm a bit mystified....
Thank You...so I guess it depends. I saw today a brown model with a flat keyboard...and it was bought in february 2007. So I guess if it has a flat keyboard, no matter what the color is, I can be 100% sure it is OK. I would(trust me, I would) get the black one, but unfortunately, they don't have it yet in my piece-of-shit country.
I have a red E90 as well and the only "hardware problem" i have is the unstable rubber feet which is barely a hardware problem to me as i almost never have it sitting on a desk. As far as the keyboard touching the screen i see no evidence of it on my phone and i have had it since June 2nd. I personally love the red color of my phone, but that is just a preference.

This got me too at first... however if you watch it a bit further you can see when the reviewer holds up the nokia box, the text is the wrong way around, like a mirror image.
Someone needs to edit their videos more carefully!
So. It seems like I am getting a mocca brown e90 soon from an online GSM shop. I don't give a shit if it is new right now, because this shop has a return/refund option available. So I can return it within 30 days of purchase and all I pay is the shipping charge which is cheap because it is internal and it's a small ass country. So If it is not v2, I will return it. I won't bother asking them about it before purchasing because I still want to play a little with it(this way, when I get the good one if it is not v2. I know exactly what to do and what NOT to do).
Until then, what are some great apps for it? Do all S60 apps render well on the communicator's large screen? Which is a good and free ssh client sftp, telnet, ftp, etc? I know it supports java, but as far as the platform goes...is it open to programmers? Does it have an official SDk from nokia? What is it based on? C++(you gotta be kidding me). Also some API's?
Soem good games probably, also ngage compatibility?
Dont worry about the applications...only few applications dont work properly but forget the games..till now am stuck to Global race from Nokia itself and a old emulator..and u need to search google for ages till u find a compatible theme...the 240x320 theme installs and work but u can calculate the pixels on the screen.
I have used various themes from pizero, and all the ones that I have tried have worked fine on the E90's internal screen.....
Regardsing applications; I use S!CFTP and putty for S60, both of which are completely free. I also use SymSMB, which is not free, but which is very useful; it enables an S60 phone to connect to a network and appear as a Samba share, as well as browse the network. It even has a built-in music player, meaning that you can stream music over your network to your phone; very cool. I haven't managed to get any of these apps to connect to my home server from outside the home, but I suspect that's a router/firewall issue....
Hey i have downloaded a LOT of themes and spent hours scouring the web for good ones and most that i have work on the e90 or at least dont look too terrible from the stretch on the inner screen so if you PM me i can help you out.
