Can't update my N96 firmware

4 replies · 5,199 views · Started 27 October 2008

I am using Nokia Software Updater and it tells me that my current firmware version on my N96 is 10.065 and that an update of 11.101 is available. I have downloaded the 115mb update, everytime I start the update program it never gets past the stage where it says 15 minutes to go, then it goes into phone recovery mode. During the time it trys to update it sounds like the phone disconnects from the computer USB a number of times. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program a number of times, but the same thing keeps happening. I am running Windows XP on my laptop and using the latest version of Nokia Software Updater. Can someone please help me?

Try pluggin your phone into your PC then waiting atleast 20 secs before choosing PC suite, I had same problem as you until I did that.

Did you manage to resolve the issue? Mine is doing exactly the same thing, even waiting 20 seconds or more makes no difference.

EDIT - I tried again and when it came up Phone Recovery, I just hit the retry button without doing anything else and it worked. My phone is now updated (only took me and hour 😮) )
