pc suite problems

I'd be grateful for any advice from you guys.
I installed and ran pc suite on XP with a 7650. Everything worked fine with file transfers. Then things went downhill; there is a program called mrouterruntime.exe going all of the time and my CPU usage is over 80% on idle (using Ctrl Alt Del). I can't delete this file and the uninstall function of windows refuses to do its job. In addition, when booting up, I get a message telling me that "another server is in use" but I cannot make it go away. The cursor continually flashes an hourglass sign as well.
Phew! Thanks for looking.

I am using w2000, and it's unusually stable for a windows OS 😃

try searching this forum for XP, since I recall seeing a lot of people complaining about XP & PC suite.

hope that points u in the right direction

Paul

yeah, it is annoying about this whole Win XP / PC Suite scenario, When it does crash on loading it leaves the aforementioned mrouterruntime.exe, as well as connmgmntbox.exe running on your system ( you will probably see your mouse flickering as though it is very busy ) these things do not seem to shutdown very well using Ctrl-ALt -Del, therefore I have made a .bat file, which i have included for this purpose

The easyest thing to do if using XP and not 2K is...

Click Start
Run
Clear the box and type msconfig
Click OK
Click the Startup Tab on the top right of the new window
Take the ticks out of all the crap nokia startup apps

when done click OK, it will promt to reboot and bobs your uncle and fannys your aunt.

P.S. You can also use this to clear all the other things start start up when you boot your 'puter that annoy you.

thanks

Eck

P.P.S Although I said this doesnt work in 2K, if anyone wants me to mail the XP msconfig app to them I will, the Win98 version doesnt work but the XP one does.

eckrall,

I think the problem was more the app remaining running after a crash, rather than stopping it running at all, otherwise great advice!!!

Most grateful for all of the above. I will try all of the tips after reading (sorry) the links given.
Strangely, when I removed the other user on my XP desktop (who never used PC suite) the cursor and exe problems disappeared. But yes, the program still refuses to uninstall itself.

Great forum...must join!
Thanks again

More information needed! What O/S, What error message do you get? what is left after uninstalling? Program Folder? Can you still run it after you have tried uninstalling it?

As I mentioned earlier, the program runs okay, but if I try to uninstall, the computer freezes, and the OS is XP. The version of PC Suite running is off the Nokia web-site and their help-line told me that it was XP compliant.

Thanks.

Aplogies for not being clearer; the computer needs to be rebooted if I hit uninstall. The program is fine again after that. There is no error message.

Thanks again
