N95-1 RM159 Firware Upgrade Fail ? Killed Camera — Nokia N95 and N95 8GB

Hi, good afternoon, my problem is this;

N95-1 RM157 Firmware 21 I wanted to upgrade to Firmware 30XXXXXX to benefit from the new improved bits and bobs and all I seem to have done is turn my phone into a 1990's phone! IT STILL MAKES CALLS AND TEXTS BUT THE CAMERAS HAVE GONE AWOL!!!!!

Used Nemisis to find Prod code (OK)
Used NSU to verify Firmware available (OK)
Attached phone to NSU went through the update seemingly seamless and problem free.
Re loaded contacts and stuff off mem card (OK)

BUT NOW,AND ITS A BIG BUT.....

Tha camera has vanished! when you open lens cover it seems as thoughit wants to open but the screen goes landscape, hangs for a couple of seconds and then returns to standby screen Ditto, Ditto, Ditto:frown:

I have done the resets Factory and out of box one and the 3 fingered salute one, made no difference. I have re-loaded the new firmware about 15 times now and still no difference, neither of the camera's work although the barcode scanner opens and you can see whatever youare pointing it at... I am at a loss now at whaht to do? I amcertainI followed instructions to the letter and their were no power outages or break in connections on any of the upgrade attempts.
I also know that the CAMERA was definately working right up to when I started the upgrade as I had just taken several pictures and downloaded them to my PC not 1 minute before starting the upgrade (I use the camera for eBay photo's) so it is very important I resolve this soon. (I have a ebay shop) Can anybody out there in Nokia N95 Land help me with this???? PS I did not receive any any error messages during any of the upgrade attempts either

I ALSO TRIED UPGRADING FROM 2 DIFFERENT PC'S JUST IN CASE, BOTH ON XP AND FIREWALL DISABLED DURING FIRMWARE UPGRADES.

Very strange - the 3 fingered salute (AKA Hard Reset) usually cures all ills.

What product code did you use?

Unfortunately, by using NSS to change product-code you have invalidated your warranty with Nokia. However, all may not be lost - if your handset is part of a contract, ask your network to repair the faulty camera or replace the handset. Do NOT tell them what you have done. With luck they will not notice or check the logs.

Hi, I did Not Change Product Code, just used nemesis to find out which code it was!

In that case, your warranty is still valid.

Either post it off to Nokia or arrange a repair/replacement with your network. 😉

You could have just looked on the white sticker underneath the battery.
