I have an N95 8GB and it was lost and now found. I have tried to restore factory settings and its asking for a lock code - where do i get this?
Also can I sell this handset and it still be usable to a buyer???
Please help and if you can please use simple terms as I dont know much about mobiles and or computers!!

If its been lost, what you should be doing is handing it into the police.
If its actually barred, then no its not usable to anyone.

Well that actually depends on a number of factors.
If it actually belongs to you and you rightfully lost it, brought a new phone and then found it then it will depend on wether or not you reported it lost. If you did then the serial number will be blocked and the phone is useless. If you have the receipt or other proof of purchase theirs a small chance that you can contact your provider and get it unblocked which will allow you to resell it. This however is not always a straightforward process. If you didn't report it lost then you can try putting an active simcard in from the provider it belongs to and see if it picks up a signal and lets you make calls and texts. If it does then it's probably safe to sell on as it was never blocked.
If it's one you have found in the street / taxi / pub / toilet etc or it doesen't belong to you then the chances are the owner has or will be at some point reporting it lost. As mentioned you might as well hand it in to the police as it's nothing but or will soon be an expensive paperweight. Even if you put a sim in and it works the chances are at some point the person you fob it off to will end up with a brick and then come looking you up.
Its probably worth noting that selling goods that don't belong to you is actually a form of theft.
yeah, and of course if the insurance company has paid out, its actually theirs now... so again, get shut of it back to them. I think if you hand it in to the coppers and noone claims it you can go claim it back after a long time frame... if thats a legit thing you might want to do??
Thank you for all your help. Just so you do know - I didnt / havent stolen or aquired the phone. Actually lost it and reported it lost then found it just after. Tried my sim card old and new and it wouldnt work. So on your advice I will call vodafone and tell them! I am an honest person!
