Tomtom can't find Internal GPS

I managed to get my hands on a WORKING tomtom with US and Canada maps. Everything is a go, but i cannot connect with the i8510's internal gps; there is no option for me to pick. Anyone solved this problem?

really?.... before this phone i installed tom tom also on the ATT tilt with internal gps. thats why i got it on this phone. I just got the i8510 about a week, are there other gps program that will work with the internal gps that you know of?

Route66 comes pre-installed on some phones, though you have to pay for the maps. Also Garmin XT works and Copilot 7.

this problem has been recently fixed on the nokia n95 so hopefully a samsung version will be available soon.

the fix included a patch, then a program you ran before using tomtom that used the network assisted gps fix.

Not strictly true, a patch has been released by a third party which is a bit of a nasty hackaround.

It emulates a BT reciever, which means you have to have BT on, and also setup the receiver everytime you start tomtom.

I paid 40 for the UK map (though the speed camera file is extra, another 7.50), and you can't use standard poi's so you have to get the Route66 file 😞
Though as with the rest you don't have to pay any more after that.
