In a rather depressing move, it seems that work on Worms World Party for N-Gage has been "postponed indefinitely". Whether that means a cancellation or a delay is anyone's guess, but it is very short-sighted and will harm the platform. WWP is extremely popular on Java (so it has a proven phone game market) and it was also extremely popular on the original gen N-Gage (so it also has a proven market among N-Gage fans). One thing to point out though, Worms is a third party franchise owned by THQ, so it's THQ that ultimately decides what happens to the game. It may have been cancelled or delayed for reasons totally beyond Nokia's control.

I don't personally mind too much if mediocre games are cancelled, they never help any gaming platform to succeed.
But Worms World Party is NOT a mediocre game, it's an excellent game that works really well on phones, and worked really well on the original N-Gage too. It would be a huge massive shame if it didn't get released on the next gen N-Gage platform, as the new platform's online and community options would fit WWP absolutely perfectly. It would be potentially just as huge as Reset Generation.
If Nokia has any kind of influence over this decision, please please please make sure that WWP is released on the N-Gage platform. And the same goes for anyone from THQ who's reading this.
Ouch! that is a bad knock for NGage, was always one of my most anticipated games for the platform from those that have been announced. Has huge potential for online now with free WiFi.
Nokia should really get some more titles added to the "coming soon" games list now to help people get over this bad news(even if it is a delay rather than cancelation).
I think it was Joystiq's review of the original N-Gage Worms that said something like this:
"If you have an N-Gage, get Worms. And if you don't have an N-Gage, get one so you can play Worms."
You can't get higher praise for a game than that.
it's not been cancled for good
production as been been temporily suspended
i asked if i can change code i won for wwp to another game b/c of it being cancelled they told me it's not cancelled and we should see it still in the future
but i'm not so certain it will be resolved but i'll keep asking
If it's only delayed, they have a heck of a weird way of saying it. Here's the official statement:
Regrettably, production on the N-Gage version of Worms has been postponed indefinitely. Nokia expects to continue its excellent relationship with THQ Wireless; but refocus on other future titles.
Why would they talk about a "refocus on other titles" if they were still working on Worms?
I really hope I'm wrong about this, really do, because this would be an absolutely perfect game for N-Gage. It would have appeal to both hardcore gamers and casuals, and it would suit a phone's controls and N-Gage's online features.
In fact we already know it's a good game for phones because of the success of the Java version, and the original N-Gage version. What possible reason was there for "indefinitely postponing" the next gen version?
Is THQ having a tiff with Nokia? That might explain the stuff about an "excellent relationship" in the statement.
Another game has been cancelled.
After Speed Racer_The Dark Knight we can only expect Metal Hear to get cancelled.
If nokia want a successful ngage needs titles like.
-Metal Gear Solid
-SkyForce Revolution
-FPS like Ashen
-RPG like Advance Wars
-smooth Virtua Tennis
-a good racing game maybe Need for Speed ?!?
-Pathway to Glory 3
-puzzle games
-mobile centered games
-some nice simple free games to introduce Ngage to everybody
And must Features
-up to 4 player WI-FI local/online multiplayer
(bluetooth is not enough any more but let me guess not possible because of the SDK)

Not really.
SR and DK were both from Glu, whereas Metal Gear Solid is from Konami.

-up to 4 player WI-FI local/online multiplayer
(bluetooth is not enough any more but let me guess not possible because of the SDK)
Both bluetooth and online multiplayer are already possible in the current SDK.
Reset Generation has online multiplayer and ONE has bluetooth multiplayer for example.
MGS wont be cancelled i got info it will be out this month along with one of digital caf games
For thos that dont really know this but there is an unofficial s60 3rd version of the upcoming game worms world party. from the looks of it the game play is exactly the same. Only difference between this an the official ngage version is the support for online gaming, menu and points. But those who are willing to play willing to play the unofficial version wont be dissappointed. Why wait for something thats already out and its a free full version.
and its a free full version.
I very much doubt it's free, THQ is a commercial company.
Unless you mean pirated versions, but that's not free, that's stolen.

The words "online gaming" are absolutely crucial there. The whole point of buying Worms World Party is to play against other people, so an N-Gage version with internet multiplayer would be far superior to an offline-only version.

Its true, that it doesnt have online gaming but yu can stil play multiplayer on 1 phone...which im fine with cos you cant do anything while its the other players turn anyway... and i find it more fun to player with friends that i know that strangers online. But it does have most of the features from the pc game. To me this free version is all good enuf for me but if yu wana pay for online multiplayer go ahead, its up to you.
