cannot sync contacts with outlook

hi,

when using pc suite (1.20) to sync my contacts with outlook 2000, the sync process stops very quickly and the protocol states somethin like "contact problem (not specified error). the device communicator could not be opened in the connected mode".

syncing tasks & calendar works fine, though. btw, I am using firmware 4.13. doeas anybody have a fix for the problem or has encountered it already and did progress to resolution?

thanks for any pointers!

I've just been through exactly the same problem! I tried to set up a new synch task, but in the end I had to

1 Delete all entries on the 9210

2 Create a temporary synch task which was set to only copy from PC to Communicator (if you choose to synch in both direction you would loose all data on the PC so watch out!!!)

3 Run this task overnight. With less than 200 addresses it took 2-3 hours...

I really rely on the synch function, and it is abysmal. A serial port in this day and age! So slow. And after I was finished it had a list of entries that had been written to the 9210, which missed out about 10 names, but when I checked they had in fact been copied to the 9210, so the synch task is flaky as well.

Good luck,

Arild

I am supprised it takes that long to sync. the contacts. I have around 100 contacts and it took a matter of minutes to sync. them from scratch. It depends on how much info. you have associated with each contact as well I guess.

Zuber

At the time i had about thirty or forty contacts. I did a complete backup of my contacts and mail. When i tried to reboot and backup i found that half of my contacts had decided to leave me, they had names but no numbers. And there was no way to regain them (apart from the stone age method of reading through my effing diary). Why did my comm. only remember half of them? Why did the pc only backup some details instead of all of them? I love the help that i get from technology that works, but i find that i have to keep pulling the nokia over any obstacles that may come between me and my job! Maybe if i had a desk job!!!! Any offers??
I suppose mailtoi@mi@m</a> more used to making desks than sitting behind them but one day soon!! User posted image
