Gone from N95 to N96.. missing features?

Hi,

I have many many complaints about the N96, mainly its extreme lack of speed for the most basic of phone tasks..

like opening a received text message (10-15 seconds with loss of response from the phone)..
around 7 seconds to reply to said message, again, phone hangs, and pressing any other buttons usually ends up in you sending a blank message when it finally catches up.. its got to the point i can write half of the message 'blind' before it catches up
and bringing up the call list using the green call key to 'quickly' ring someone can take.. forever, literally, as the phone has crashed and required a hard restart..
so much for being a PHONE huh... i'd rather use an ancient brick like the 5210 i had years ago as at this rate since they were literally instant..
And what is with the terrible shutter speed on the n96.. you need a concrete hand to get a steady pic!

ALTHOUGH... these things can be sorted with some love given to the software. I dont necessarily want this to be a rant on how much i hate being used as a non-informed beta tester, athough i am annoyed..

but i have noticed , hardware wise, the lack of an edit key which i used a lot on the n95... as I cant use the n96 long enough before it crashes and needs restarting, Are there any other little features that are missing in the n96, from the n95

Will there ever be the ability to enter birthdays into calendar at 'stock' level.. with the 6230 you could put the year of birth, so always knowing how old the person is
and STILL.. there is no stock ability to view a folder with thumbnails, or give a gallery view for a folder.. what good is it to anyone to try and load every picture on the phone into gallery, bloody rubbish getting basic things wrong after how many years of symbian...?

This is completely off topic, but i've noticed you've got the N96 on vodafone, it would be recommended to upgrade your firmware to V11 as that will improve the speed and general performance of the phone.

I would, and intend to do that, but i popped into my local Nokia Care centre where they have had a few people bring in phones which had been updated via pc suite and then bricked, so I'm going to let them update it.

How are voda with releasing new firmware?

If the N96 is anything like the N85 then the edit key is now the "#" button. Works exactly the same as the pencil button.

Running the V10 firmware? Its absolutely shockingly bad, V11 makes a huge difference but still isn't perfect.

Damn, I thought I'd tried that.... my manual is in Finnish 😞
