We opened a poll just over a week ago to see which resort was people's favourite in Hooked On: Creatures Of The Deep. Slightly surprisingly, the most popular response (41%) was from people who hadn't unlocked all the locations, which does perhaps back up the AAN review that criticised how hard it was to get the first unlock. If you're totally new to the game, chances are that you will spend many, many hours building up enough XP just to unlock the first new resort. COTD is effectively four huge freeform games in one package, and it seems silly to lock new players into just one of them for such a long time.

its not hard lol, you only have to get level up to open locations lol
you dont even need to do quest's
all you need to do is catch sharks and level go's up fast and it unlocks all items and locations then you can do all the missions in whatever location's you like
i wish more game's was like it , it's much better than a normal mobile game that can be completed in a few hour's

That only works if you know about the sharks though, which new players won't do. There's absolutely nothing at the beginning of the game to guide you to particular fish.
The odds are that you'll catch items with much lower XP levels instead (especially in the quests, and new players are likely to follow them). Because they're low XP, it takes ages to level up and get an unlock.

Yeah, just to make clear, I'm NOT saying the resorts themselves are too hard. It's really great that each resort takes a long time to complete, it means there's lots of meaty gameplay. I think the developers said there's something like 100 hours of gameplay there, which is absolutely astonishing for such a high quality phone game.
But completing a resort is not the same thing as unlocking a resort, and I'm just talking about unlocking.
This isn't the kind of game where you complete one level and then move onto another. Each location is effectively a totally separate game with separate XP, quests and items, so it doesn't really make sense to lock them like this, it ought to be much easier for new players to get to each resort. I'd suggest lowering the first unlock level to about 4 or 5, which is something you can reach fairly quickly even if you just do quests and tournaments.
